Hi all,

After my little melt down the other day, I’ve decided it’s not going to change anything & if anything just stress me out even more, so I’m trying my hardest just to focus on myself & my husband.

I’m so so grateful for this amazing forum you are all amazing!

So at the moment, I’m just taking folic acid & vitamin D along with my daily dose of levothyroxine is there anything else I should or could be taking?

Also what should my husband be taking?

Thanks guys xx

Hi ChloeL.Some of the ladies on here will most likely recommend all sorts of supplements, but for me, I would advise to take a pre-conception multi-vitamin tablet each day for both of you. If you fancy any other recommendations, and you are under a clinic or your GP, I would run it past him/her before taking them. All the best, and I shall be thinking of you. Diane

My doctor specifically recommends CoQ10 and a good quality fish oil / DHA for both my husband and myself. If you are going to get a multi-vitamin make sure it is high quality and has the important trace minerals in it too, like selenium, chromium, magnesium, zinc etc. The same for your husband too. My doctor also recommends a few PCOS specific supplements, but I just listed what my doctor recommends for everyone in her practice xx

Thanks so much! Where can I get the CoQ10 from? Xx

I would look at the regular big pharmacy / vitamin companies. Get it from somewhere trustworthy is the main thing. The dose recommended is usually 600mg a day xx

Please can you tell me what your doctor recommended for Pcos?

Of course, the main one is Myo-inositol / D-chiro-inositol, the dose for the Myo-inositol should be at least 2,000mg a day. Also magnesium, selenium and Vitamin D3 seem to get low in those with PCOS, so either get tested or get supplement or make sure your multi-vitamin has a good amount of those. Also NAC, which is 'N-Acetyl Cysteine' supplement xx

Great, I’m taking most of these already. Thank you! x

Hello—my doctor recommended that I take CoQ10, which I've been able to find at most larger or more natural-leaning pharmacies. It usually costs around €30 for a 30-day supply. I took it nearly every day for two years, every night before bed. We finally did our first ICSI this month and even though we only had two normally fertilized eggs out of three mature eggs harvested, both of them made it to the freezing stage. I have no way of knowing if these things are related, but I have low AMH and am 41, and everyone was shocked that 100% of our normally fertilized eggs made it to freeze. I also ate pretty much nothing but giant heaps of fruit (especially figs and berries), salmon, avocado, and whole milk during stimulation. But always ask your own doctor of course!

I would also suggest coq10 ubiquinol and my husband just took the male version of pregnacare. I took the ubiquinol leading up to my ivf cycle - we managed to get 6 embryos from the 11 eggs fertilised so I think it helped. Wishing you all the best xxx

Thanks so much xx

I took a pre contraception multi vitamin, vital DHA from zita west (they do a men's fertility version too) and I took DHEA. Started them all 2 months before I conceived my son. I also drank a glass of pineapple juice NOT from concentrate during 2ww and cut out caffeine during that time too x

Thanks so much, DHEA what dose should I be looking at? Xx

You should only take DHEA if you have confirmed low testosterone levels - there is a reason why it isn’t available in the U.K. and has to be imported because it can actually reduce your fertility if you take it without any medical need

Oh, I didn’t actually know that. Thanks so much! Xx

I had normal testosterone and I bought mine in the UK. It was a recommended supplement from Zita West fertility for poor egg reserve and to help conception. I researched it a lot before taking it. I took 25mg 2x a day cycle I conceived my little boy. If trying to conceive alone not via IVF it's very safe. A lot use it in IVF but then go with what your clinic tells you x

I’ve also taken co q 10 for about 8 months now. I’m 36 and have low AMH and in an initial rounds of ivf only 2 eggs (from 2 follicles) then the next 0 eggs (from 1 follicle). I then began Co q 10 and we’ve had 3 eggs from 3 follicles then 4 eggs from 4 follicles. Still no baby but in my current cycle there’s 6 follicles and egg collection is on Saturday so even though my AMH is still decreasing, the longer I take it the more follicles/eggs. The studies I’ve read used 600mg but I could only find 450mg at my pharmacy so have been using that. Good luck!

Do you take any other supplements such as DHEA (which is supposed to help women with low AMH)? I am 34 with low ovarian reserve and poor quality eggs and I am thinking of starting these two. Good luck on your egg collection!x

I stuck with just the Co q 10 and today they ended up finding 7 follicles and even the two smaller ones had eggs so 7 eggs. By far the best result we’ve had especially when we’ve had a round with zero. So I’m a huge believer in the benefit :)

I had low egg reserve, was 37 and I conceived my little boy within weeks of starting dhea xx

Hey chloeL934. Like the ladies say Ubinqonal, Co Q10, vitamin D. vitamin E, ore conception one - the brand I am using is multi Essentials-recommended by nutritionist. Omega 3. Try myosotol too. For him my husband uses lypoecene. And a man version of pregncare. Protein is a good idea (try to get with every meal). Not sure if any if these things will work but worth a try 😉. Good luck lovely

Hi there, I took ubiquinol, CoQ10, DHEA, vit D, vit E & prenatals for my last round, and it worked. Not sure if it was just the protocol change with IVF meds or if the supplements helped. The book “it starts with the egg” helped me choose which supplements might be best for me, I have stage 4 endometriosis and one Fallopian tube. I wish you the best of luck ❤️
