Tests before ET

Hi ladies, as I have only 1 embryo on ice I would like to maximise my chances by investing all issues and doing all tests before hand. I have already a known problem that I have hypothyroidism but apart from this, I would be interested in knowing all the tests that are recommended to check for potential problems before. I am thinking of problems related to me rather than the embryo. Xx

I'm not sure if your age or history. If you were about to do a retrieval I'd certainly suggest getting then pgs tested just to eliminate chromosomal abnormalities.

However you've got one miracle on ice so is great you're doing everything before transferring it. I wish I'd done that for my first FET.

I did the following for my second FET of a pgs normal embryo in Nov and currently 23 weeks.

- ERA/Alice/Emma biopsy and Hysteroscopy (done at the same time)

- I tested for pai-1 and TEG blood clotting mutation which came back with an issue and that I needed daily Clexane injections (all other blood clotting issues always came back normal) so push for this test. It's done at St Mary's hospital by Dr Raj Raj

- check your progesterone levels are above 100 (in UK) a few days prior to ERA so you can adjust if necessary. Mine never got high enough weigh 3 x Lubion injections per day and 4 x cyclogest! I switched to prontogest progesterone in oil injections which hurt as they're intramuscular and 3 x cyclogest daily and my levels were nice and high.

- intralipids a week before transfer and fortnightly until 17 weeks. This is more controversial and I'll never know if it made any difference but I'm 23 weeks pregnant so I'd do it again next time.

Best of luck xx

In regards to your thyroid, TSH should ideally be under 2.5. If not, your dose may need increasing. I had an endometrial scratch before my fresh transfer, whether that was a determining factor I dont know. I went by a few of the 'myths' I had 3 brazil nuts per day, 200ml pomegranate juice per day. Wore fluffy socks constantly, sometimes 2 pairs.xx

Thanks. What is the idea behind the fluffy socks?

Something to do with the lining of your womb. Again, it could be total BS but inlove having warm feet and wore 2 pairs of fluffy socks for months lol. Cant do any harm xx
