tests before oversees IVF

hi,

has anyone had experience of getting their tests and investigations done in the UK prior to having IVF in Cyprus?I've been emailed a list of scans and blood tests that both I and my husband would require before we start treatment and have no idea how to get the tests done. I'm just at the stage where we're looking into it all and haven't commited to any clinic yet.

I'm finding it all very overwhelming!

Any advice would be greatly received. Thanks

We've recently been through this. I've had consultations with three clinics in three different countries (zoom obviously 🤣) what I will say is the protocols for us were all pretty much identical and the tests required also the same. So if you go ahead with tests and swap to a different clinic it's likely you won't have wasted any money. I can't be 100% as I'm basing it on our circumstances going for embryo adoption however. All have asked for progesterone, full thyroid, lupus for instance. I went to a clinic in Manchester for bloods but they are nation wide. Not sure if I'm allowed to say the name of it on here, they will do the scans too. Check with your GP first though, mine were very unhelpful saying they wouldn't help as I'd had "too much IVF" but you might fair better. What I have found exceptionally helpful is joining Facebook groups for the clinics we narrowed down to. The ladies answer all questions and have helped me out a lot. Clearly specific for that clinic, but as I say it's been a support and wealth of information. Happy to message if I can be of any more help. Good luck. 😊

Thank you so much for your reply. My GP has been less than helpful too, so I'm very reluctant to ask for any support from them.

Hi, I am at a clinic in Spain. I found it much less stressful and more cost effective to get all the tests done in Spain. I don’t know if that’s an option for you. Wishing you all the best xx

Thank you very much for your reply. I'll ask the clinic in Cyprus if this is an option.

Take a look at Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority [Fertility Regulator for the UK]hfea.gov.uk - Treatment options then scroll to Things to consider - Treatment abroad - you will find lots of information there . Also have a page to Find a clinic near me .

Good luck for the future

Janet

Hello I’m not sure where you stay but I’m from Aberdeenshire doing ivf in Spain. It was actually cheaper to have a holiday for a week in Spain and get them to do all the tests than it was to do it at home. Not sure if this is an option for u xxx

Yes, we went to Cyprus and had to do a few tests. Some the GP requested the others I had to go private. Blood type, up to date sperm analysis, dye test through tubes etc…..

After 10 years of infertility i wanted to share my experience, as i hope i can help someone. As after quiting on me getting pregnant, a lovely lady on instagram who had her treatment in Cyprus recommended I speak with Magda at pearl fertility clinic in CYPRUS. Now am 12 weeks pregnant and can never recommend them enough to be honest. If your searching for a clinic then definitely this is the best clinic i have ever seen
