Miscarriage/Thrombotic Mutation Tests- Any affordable Labs in the UK?

After three miscarriages, we have now decided to move to donor eggs. My clinic which is based abroad have requested the following tests to be done before the embryo transfer:

1- factor V Leiden

2- factor II Prothrombin

3- PAI-1 gen

I'm based in London and the prices here seem to be really high. I wonder if anyone can tell me if there are any labs that are more affordable for these tests (not necessarily in London). Any input would be much appreciated x

Many thanks

After 3 miscarriages, you're eligible to get these tests free on NHS, I think there is an age limit (I want to say under 42 or 43 but I cant recall exactly, website would tell you). Obvs, there might be a wait involved though.

If you want to go the NHS route, I'd suggest asking your GP to refer you to Tommy's clinic in Coventry. They're the UK leading.

You can be tested at your local hospital and they'll interpret for you. They also work collaboratively with fertility clinics, at least in UK.

All consultations are over the phone, so you don't have to travel up there. We've found Prof Quenby to be really lovely.

Our initial wait was 3-4 months, but she then keeps your referral open, so you can book yourself in for follow-ups. I've always managed to get one within a week - 10 days, but usually a week.xx

Thank you very much for your response and for the information xx. I am under the care of a recurrent miscarriage clinic at St Helier hospital, I contacted them yesterday and asked for these tests. They said they don't offer them under their clinic. They initialy did some tests but no blood clotting investigation. The clinic focuses on NK cell testing only (that's my consultant's approach which I think is not ideal). About two years ago, I was under the care of a different recurrent miscarriage clinic at St George's hospital, they did some thrombophilia tests but unfortunately none of the above. I will ask my GP next week and see if they can refer me for these tests. The ivf cycle is planned for end of October, so not sure if I can wait 3-4 months. I'll see what the GP has to say first xx

Your GP should be able to make a referral for Leiden.
