Hi, I just have my 2nd failed IVF at 42 years, low amh but FSH less than 10
Round Nov 2019, 2dt : 3 mature eggs, 2 embryo's Grade A, 4 cell with none and little fragmentation
Round Feb 2020, 2dt : 3 mature eggs, 1 embryo's Grade B, 4 cell with some fragmentation. Tried embryo culture, scratch, booster shots but again no sign of implantation as well.
Running out of money and husband with morph 4 and then 3
Wondering if IUI might me an option or IVF is our only option
My doc is not the most sympathetic and keep suggesting donor eggs. We never get many so many to take them to 3 or even day 5
Does having good embryo at 2 day any indication? We did get preggo lat year naturally but had a chemical at 4ish week but no luck since.
Wondering why can't we even get an implantation. I also get some night sweats and fever around 8-10 days after
Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this ?
Appreciate your help

Hi, I am 43 next week so am in similar age scenario and totally understand the urgency.
4 cell at day 2 is where they are supposed to be I think. My clinic often transfer at day 2 if you only have a couple as they strongly believe embryos are best off in their natural environment. At least your embryos all seem to be doing what they should be doing when the should be doing it, and seem a great grade too.
I hate to say it but I don't think you will find an answer to 3 embryos not implanting in 2 rounds of IVF. Sometimes its just down to sheer luck. Sometimes no matter what you throw at it, for heaven knows what reason it just doesn't work. I have a friend who was successful on round 9 with her worst embryo yet.. another at round 7. Not to say that will be you but what I have learnt from this journey is there is often no reason at all why it works or doesn't. The nurse at my clinic said to me you just have to keep going and one day one will stick. It can be a volume game. My consultant is a bit more brutal, and says we should give up 'if IVF isn't improving the chances than if you would get pregnant naturally'..
I don't know enough about IUI to advise you but I think it sounds like your embryos are currently in quite good shape, and it could just be you have been hideously unlucky.. it doesn't mean anything is wrong and whilst it doesn't make it any easier for every person on this forum getting their bfp from their first round there are a lot of people on here transferring their 10th/12th/14th etc embryo too.
Reading that back I am not sure if thats any help at all but I wanted to send you a hug anyway I know how difficult it is xx
I'm 42 and am currently 28 weeks (on a 3-day, Grade A) on round 5. I had a BFP on cycle 1 with two two-day, 4 cell grade A embryos, but sadly no heartbeat at weak 6. I also had one chemical. Like Daisy1245's, my doc thinks embryos do best in their natural environment, and while I usually had around 7 embryos, only one or two would make it to day 5,and none were ever in great shape by then. My doc is a firm believer in the numbers game.... that it will eventually work if I could stomach the financial and emotional toll to keep trying, and that someone my age might need exposure to 10-20 embryos for one to stick.
My doc also recommended going straight to IVF instead of IUI if there are any sperm issues. Said IUI wouldn't hurt, but if I didn't want to lose time, go right to IVF.
While I kept going, there was certainly the inner pull to move to donor eggs in hope of success. The dilemma is such a struggle. But you will find support moving in either and any direction, whatever you decide to do.
Hi dear. I wondered what protocol you used ? Often if you have low AMH as I do also - I was told by my consultant to do a modified natural cycle - much lower doses of meds. As I would never produce many eggs anyway and the lower doses are supposed to produce a better quality egg and embryo. I've been using this method to batch embryos after 3 failed rounds. I think some clinics offer 3 rounds of this with freezing after fertilization. For me on high dose meds I produced only one egg which disintegrated. But using lower meds I've produced 1/2 eggs each round which fertilised and have been frozen.
Hi I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm 40 and I've had 1 miscarriage and had a failed 1st round of 2 fresh embryos transfer on day5
My fertility doctor didn't recommend IUI bcz of my husband's low sperm count/motility bcz it would end up in a miscarriage unfortunately and would waste money & time. My only option was IVF bcz of my age and my husband's issue.
You would be eligible since you had a few failed IVF cycles. I heard success stories after taking the ERA. My husband and I will definitely ask a different fertility doctor about it to see if I qualify for it. With my age, time and embryos are too precious to keep doing the same thing.
Hi, I am sorry to hear your second cycle didn't work. I am the same age as you and will have my second FET done next month in London. I had done one IUI cycle 40 before I started my IVF journey. The IUI didn't work. I was advised that IUI success rates are lower than IVF for women over 40. Have you thought about doing IVF abroad, like in Spain or Cyrus? I have heard the clinics over there are much cheaper than London and the the results are good! Best of luck with your next cycle! X
On a confusing note I am almost 6 weeks, now and I had a HCG of 7, which as per my doc was NO because of residual HCG booster or its not viable preg. This was beta on 3rd March.
I am still getting a medium dark positive on HPT and today noon was as dark as morning one.
My last to last period was on 2nd Feb and current period was on 7th March after I stopped progesterone.
It was heavy for 2 days, my periods are usually not, with some clots.
I am confused. I have no symptoms except a little bitter mouth in the morning so dont want to get hopes going anywhere! HCG of 7 should have been out by now !
