So had a phone call from our doctor today which was really nice and answered a few questions I had about possible future tests. The only test she seemed slightly interested in was the era test. Just wondering about people’s experiences of this both positive and negative please !

Also I mentioned putting 2 back and she said that was entirely personal choice she wouldn’t influence either way so experiences of this would also be useful.

She did say in her experience stress was a big factor, obviously I’m now stressing about this 😂 overall I wouldn’t say I’m that stressed although obviously this whole process and not being able to achieve what you want so desperately is super stressful! Sorry for the long post !xx

As you probably know I have had the ERA test but not had enough time to test it out! I know of 2 ladies that had success after having it and they had successful transfers. They are Fingerscrossed38 & anither that has her little one due to it!! To be honest that was the only test left that I was willing to try and it made sense as we got nothing after 5 days of progesterone then our consultant started moving transfer after 6 full days of progesterone and that's when we started getting positives. I need a full 24hrs mor of progesterone that the average person. If you have any questions feel free to ask or PM me.xx

Thanks, I got my positive after 5 days so I’m unsure at the moment but just keeping it in the back of my mind. 🤞 it’ll prove right with you and will help get your baby xx

I think it's a test to consider for implantation failure and early losses too. Take a bit of time to think about it. I hope it will make the difference with good embryos.🤞🏻xx

Hi Core,

I’m so sorry this has been such a long journey for you! You’re an absolute warrior!

With regard to stress, I personally find mindfulness, meditation, yoga (especially restorative yoga) and acupuncture helpful. The stress didn’t end for me once I got pregnant I’m afraid. Insight Timer has many great free meditations. I’ve found the yoga nidra guided meditations to be especially helpful.

A book I also really like is Healing Anxiety, Depression and Unworthiness. It’s a great workbook to learn mindfulness. While I was coping with infertility, the books Soulful Simplicity and The Gift of Maybe made a huge difference. These books helped me learn to surrender, let go of things I can’t control and find out what truly matters to me.

I wish you the best on your journey! Xx

You can find these books on Amazon US if not Amazon UK. The shipping is actually reasonable from the US.

Sorry for so many replies! Another book that’s highly recommended, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet is The Healing Power of the Breath by Richard Brown. Breathing is one of the most effective tools we can use to reduce stress and anxiety.

Thanks for all the top tips! I’ve already ordered one book, I did try yoga ages ago but haven’t done it for a while. Will look more into restorative yoga xx

That’s great! I’m so glad you found my recommendations helpful. Just curious, what book were you drawn to? Let me know if there aren’t any restorative yoga classes near you and I have some more books I can recommend. It’s actually quite easy to do at home with some blankets and a couple simple props if you decide you want to get into it. I’m training to become a therapeutic yoga instructor and I’ll be primarily doing restorative yoga. Xx

I’ve ordered the power of maybe because it sounded exactly what I needed I’ve found not being in control and not being able to plan so difficult in this process! I’m such an organised planner! I haven’t found any classes but have done some research online. Are there any good YouTube videos or websites you’d recommend?xx

Great, I love that book! I don’t have any video or website recommendations as of now, but I’ll look into it when I get a chance. The author also has a podcast called 10 Minutes to Less Suffering that’s really good. Xx

I haven’t got anything particularly helpful to say but just wanted to say glad you got your follow up and glad your consultant was interested in ERA so you have new options

Interestingly my consultant COMPLETELY dismissed stress as a negative impact on ivf - I was prepared to give up work!!! But he told me not to bother! Shame!

My solution - jigsaws! I know it’s bonkers but I find they really help me chill out and forget about everything

Looking forward to what’s next on your action list and so ready for you to get some good news it’s long overdue xx

I think we are going to go ahead with next cycle like usual because we did get pregnant on day 5 of progesterone but we will keep it in the back of our minds. She said there’s a lot of research on going so there are still lots of grey areas. What did your consultant say about it?

Ooo yes I did get on jigsaws a few months ago but have forgotten lately will have to dig them back out. How are you feeling about tomorrow? Good luck xx

My fertility consultant and the leader of a support group I attended also said I shouldn’t be concerned about stress.

Maybe it’s true the treatment will work regardless, but what I can tell you is when your body is stuck in the fight or flight stress response, which the chronic stress of infertility is likely to do, reproduction does take a bit of a back seat biologically because our bodies are busy keeping us alive. Stress can have all types of negativity affects on our minds and bodies.

Regardless of the affect on the results of fertility treatment, stress certainly affects our mental health and finding ways to counter it are critical for well-being. So surprised it was dismissed so easily.

I just had a ERA test last month. I just heard the news that I need 12 less hours of progesterone. So here’s to hoping my next FET on March 11, is our sticky baby!

Good luck for your next FET. Do you mind me asking what led to you having the test?xx

Really sorry to hear that, hoping this next one will be your time xx

Hi Core,I don't have experience of having an ERA my consultant doesn't think timing is my issue, they just don't stick. In relation to how many to have put back I had this dilemma previously and in the end opted for 1, my consultant agreed with me and said because 1 embryo was a very good grade and the second wasn't as good he said the poorer grade embryo could potentially prevent both of them implanting but I think its personal choice and how many embryos you have,it is a toughie xx

Yes I think I’m gonna stick with 1 for now because I think that overall gives better chances. I’m also going to leave ERA for now until I’ve done some more research xx

My second round I literally didn’t have many expectations nor a massive amount of hope or pressure on it. Sounds silly but my first round I never dreamed it wouldn’t work so I was crushed and devastated of course but the second round I just went about more casually and didn’t really appreciate the severity of what I was doing if that makes sense compared to the pressure and expectations of my first round. We only told skeleton people about it not even my mum or dad just best friend and the pressure was less I think.

I did acupuncture the first time to boost the chances of the treatment and to relieve stress and in a way it was the opposite sometimes. I didn’t do it the second time, I relaxed a lot more and almost pretended the cycle wasn’t happening. I ate and drank what I wanted, I did not embark on anything life altering like bpa free or anything.

My supplements and steroids I added in on my second round seemingly made ALL the difference with my increased strength of meds. It’s difficult to not stress about the only one thing you want in the world so badly. Good luck darling xxxx
