Quick background on me: Was TTC 2 years, 1x ectopic (tube removed), 1x failed ivf, natural conception (after laparoscopy to open tube) with my daughter who is nearly 2. Started trying again in July, fell pregnant but unfortunately another ectopic- So no tubes left.
We are going to be doing another IVF cycle in the next couple of months and think we want to do egg sharing. Does anyone know the process? My AMH is 26 so I’m eligible but don't really know what happens now when we tell the clinic we are thinking about doing it.
Hope everyone is doing ok and wishing everyone tons of baby dust 💫

Hi Hope, I have a few posts from last year about the egg share program as I was on it - right up until egg retrieval. Have a read and then if you have anymore specific questions - I’ll answer best I can!!
I was under the impression that they just froze half of my eggs to bank but when I was doing more research I realised they try and find a match. Just a bit apprehensive how long it will take x
It is quite a long process to be fair. Five weeks for the blood tests to come back - we had our 1st appointment end of May and didn’t start our injections till end of October with collection in beginning of November. Fortunately time went quickly and we had a really fun summer but we weren’t expecting it to take so long.
Hi Hope. I did egg sharing a year ago and I was happy with it as an experience although it did take a few months for them to match me with someone. For me it was similar to a normal fresh round of IVF except for taking the pill and norethisterone first to sync up our cycles. Let me know any specific questions. x
That what I was a bit apprehensive about... how long it was going to take. I did want to just get on with it ASAP as I know just how much ivf cab take its toll x
It might have been that my clinic is just slow because they have made us wait months for this round and I'm not doing egg sharing this time! Last time, though, I think the wait was from November until March (for the injections), which is a very long time!
Hi I’ve started the program now. I’m about to take my first injection tomorrow.
I applied for it December, had to do blood test etc. Had first consultation all went well.
So that will be your next step the consultation, filling forms out etc.
I won’t have to do a waiting as they don’t have anyone yet for the egg sharing so my eggs will go in there donor bank. I was told my eggs will only be shared with one person. And if I get a odd number I get to keep it.
It’s been quite a straight forward once all the blood test came back.
I was under the impression that I would freeze half my eggs collected for someone to use at a later date but actually reading more info, they try to find a match beforehand.
Do you know how many eggs you would need to get, to go through with the egg share?x
You need a minimum of 8 eggs. I went through for egg retrieval thinking I’d get about 14 but I think they left collection a bit late and i only got 7 - therefore I kept them all and didn’t have to fork out any extra.
Yes I was told 8 eggs.. I have my baseline scan tomorrow. Yes like “cook7786” mentioned it after the scans and you have less eggs you still go with the treatment for free
I was a bit anxious about the 8 eggs as last time I only produced 4 (but they were being cautious With doses because of my amh). That makes me feel much better knowing that I wouldn’t have to fork out the extra money if suddenly I didn’t have enough eggs.
Good luck for your baseline scan tomorrow Kyra-J. Let me know how it goes 😊
I just want to say what a lovely and generous decision to have made.
As someone who starting to have to read more and consider if we may have to go down to route of donor, I just wanted to say that your generosity is amazing 😊
It makes me more certain that I want to do it for people to have the chance to become parents. I’m half Caribbean so I would imagine those of the same ethnic origin would probably wait longer than others too!
Hi I have egg shared at Northampton it was a really easy process obviously not as quick as doing it in your own in your own time but I have very impatient and I never felt like I was waiting long.
Obviously, certain characteristics are more popular (sounds bad I know) xxx
