Pregnancy test help please!

Hey everyone!

So yesterday was official test day and bloods.

HCG was 358 and progesterone was 96.4.

My clinic like progesterone to be above 100, and when tested the week previously it was 126. So to make sure everything is going in the right direction and isn’t dropping they are re testing tomorrow.

To try and work things out myself, I tested yesterday (top) and today (bottom)...... I am v confised, does it look like they have put the test together the wrong way? As it looks like the one above but reversed???? How can my control line be lighter than the one above? (It’s the same back/batch)

Today’s looks darker which is a good sign! Don’t worry too much about the lines and enjoy you BFPs!

Thank you ❤️ . I was ok until they said they want to re test to make sure the hcg isn’t going down. I totally heard that as “It is going downhill lol xx

I would say the the top result line is defo darker yesterday than it is today. However the control line for today is darker. It could to do with the times of testing and how diluted your urine is etc. Did you test both at the same time but 24 hours apart xxxx

The control line is the right side?! So my test line is darker today.....than yesterday but the control line is darker yesterday than today.

I am just wondering why my control line is much lighter..... if that makes sence x

Hey, testing and comparing lines is enough to drive your mind overboard. There can be a whole range of reasons why this has happened. Stay off Google and just focus on tomorrow so that you can get a better idea of whats happening xx all the best ❤️

Don’t worry about the control line. What matters is that your line is getting darker. X

I was just wondering if possible that they have put them in in reverse? As the control line is lighter than the one above, is this normal? X

Could be, but I think the darkness of the control line can vary and I think that’s more likely what it is. The control line is just to indicate whether or not you are pregnant coupled with the presence or absence of your line as you know. So long as the control line is adequately visible it’s done it’s job. We’re not told to look at the darkness of the control line. The control line wouldn’t suggest to me that the tests are the wrong way around. The darkness of the control line isn’t necessarily consistent. I just fished out my tests which I dated and see the same thing. Please don’t worry.x

Your beta number has come back good and it’s now far too high for a first response test, they are extremely sensitive for low levels of hcg. Its doing what people refer to as dye stealing where the test line takes dye from the control.

Sounds like your clinic is all over everything , I would trust them to do their jobs and see what they say about your progesterone tomorrow.

Thank you! Yes my clinic are very very very though! And me.... I am v v v anxious the most of times. I am also practically house bound so have a LOT of time on my hands to overthink 😂. Thank you cx

Sorry you mentioned dye stealing? What does this mean...../ you dont think the control line and test line have been out in back to frount lol xx

No I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the tests. I don’t know much about dye stealing, just seen it mentioned before and seen a picture that looked the same as yours, it apparently happens when there is too much hcg for the test and so the test line pulls dye from the control line so the control line becomes lighter than the test line.

I totally understand overthinking 🙈 I’ve tried to set designated times of the day for googling things/over worrying and the rest of the time hide my phone 😂 x

I hate the thought that you're feeling so anxious. I have never had a bfp yet so can't offer any personal experience but I wanted to send you virtual hugs & support. A few of the lovely ladies on here have already quite rightly reassured you the only line on your pregnancy test you need to think about is the test/results line and it's progress looks nice 🥰 please try to take deep breaths, do things that help you relax tonight and try focus on positive thoughts.

I know we are only a few days apart on our transfer but just wanted to say I stopped peeing on the frer ones as the lines do fluctuate a bit and all it does is freak me out! No two tests are exactly the same, you’ll drive yourself mad looking at them! They are great early on but after that they can cause so much stress.

Your bloods are good so just try and focus on that. You’re pregnant! Have you got a date for your viability scan yet? Big hugs xx

Thank you! Yeah I know I need to stop testing, I know I’m stress on myself out! I think it’s as I’m worried that the numbers are going down, I just want to make sure there not getting lighter... not darker I’d that makes sence.

Viability scan is Feb 14th. What about you xxxx what day past transfer are you xxx

I completely understand why you want to keep testing, I’ve got a draw full of used tests 🙈 I haven’t done one for a few days now though and it’s actually helping the anxiety. A FRER picks up less than 10 in your system so your numbers are way past that being able to tell you anything more.

I get my scan date through today, hoping it’s not too long. I’m 14dp5dt today, had my beta yesterday! Xxx

It went well thank you! Hcg rose from 356’to 1007 in 48 hrs. However progesterone dropped from 96 to 86 but they have increased meds and I will have another blood test on Monday xx

Congrats on the hcg rise! Glad you got your progesterone sorted as well. Hopefully Monday will show it’s a steady level.

Hi

I became obsessed with peeing on a stick even after my positive beta hcg results, but at this stage the only reliable way to track progress is via the clinic and bloods.

My clinic also wanted to re do my beta to just check that the numbers were increasing. I found with these FRER the results varied from stick to stick and depended on how much I drank and time of day. So I do think when hcg levels are as high as yours, it’s not really an accurate way to track.

I understand your anxiety, I’m in the same boat and did my ET a week before you. Some lovely people in this community mentioned the mindful app and that’s helping me.

Line defo lookd darker today. Your test line starts stealing dye from the control line the stronget your hCG becomes! Congratulations!! They usually just like to do a second blood to ensure your levels are rising in the correct manner....without a second one your test foesnt tell them much apart from a number. Congrats, all looks good with your tests!xx

I was always told by doctors that the darkness of the lines doesn't matter as long as theres 2 there it's a positive and they were right I had faint lines every time I tested it depends how diluted your urine is too.... I now have a beautiful 1year old.... so please don't worry about the lines or the bloods until they retest you..... enjoy your bfp congratulations x

Your test is the same as mine was. They aren't back to front; you have too much HCG for the test so it's pulling dye from the control, like others have said. It's all good, try not to worry! Xx

I had this as I was a serial tester when I got pregnant with my boy. Your test line today is stronger than your control line which is very encouraging xx

Mine was exactly the same and it all worked out fine, i took it as the darker the line the more pregnancy hormones are swimming around my body! Good luck 🤞

I’d go on the test line and ignore the control line. Definitely stronger so that’s a positive to hold on to. Are you taking progesterone? As long as the HCG is going up daily, that’s the most important thing.

It’s such a difficult time, everyone tells you to take your mind off it but that’s completely impossible so if it’s driving you crazy you can get a digital test and make sure it tells you the correct number of weeks . Good luck, everything crossed for you 🤞💕
