Where to go next, short protocol?

ā€¢6 Replies

I have been on buserelin for a total of 29 days today šŸ˜Iā€™m finally having my second period on it after being given a trigger shot almost 2 weeks ago. Iā€™m so sure I still wonā€™t be down regulated and will find out this week. Iā€™m just not sure where to go from here if thatā€™s the case. This is the second time buserelin hasnā€™t worked for me and Iā€™m about to be charged a lot for a cancelled cycle. What should I be asking next? My clinic want me on long protocol but I just canā€™t risk more cancellation charges (Iā€™m with access so already paid up otherwise). Would it be reasonable to try short protocol? And can I use the Ā£1000 of menopur I just bought on short? No idea on current AMH I think it was about 21 18m ago and my last AFC 2 months ago was 20. Im not ready to quit just yet but buserelin is too much! TIA if you read all this way down! Xx

Hi Aprilmama, sorry to hear of all of the issues youā€™re having with the long protocol. You should definitely be able to use Menopur on a short protocol... I did on my first cycle. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Aprilmama. So sorry to hear you are having such a crappy time, I really feel for you being on buserelin for such a long time with no joy. I have done both long and short cycles and found the short defo worked better for me. I think my AMH is similar (prob now below 20 Iā€™m guessing since last test) and we have also had issues with lining being on the thick side rather than too thin (although I havenā€™t looked further into what the rest of your situation so not sure if any of this is relevant). I am currently on a short cycle using menopur so not sure of any reason you couldnā€™t use the stuff you already have for that. Wishing you the best of luck with you next steps lovely xxx

Thank you..it seems most have the opposite problem of a thin lining, I havenā€™t spoken to many with a thick lining! Our problem is male factor. Iā€™m pretty run down on the buserelin so donā€™t feel like Iā€™m in the best place to move forward, I hope my clinic will consider this, they only do long FET cycles too but they let me do a short FET last time as a lovely nurse agreed to manage my cycle. Good luck in your cycle xx

I too have trouble with burserelin and it ended in a cancelled cycle. We decided to go for a short protocol but sadly my body didn't respond to this either..they collected one egg which was abnormal back in October. It's never easy knowing what to do for the best....have a talk with your consultant/clinic explain your worries and see what they suggest for the best.
