Advice needed - antibiotics and ivf?

Dear all

Had my drugs appointment on Friday - doing short protocol- due to start Norethisterone Tomorrow for 10 days before baseline scan and thereafter hopefully stims

Just to complicate matters - I have been diagnosed with bacterial Tonsillitis today so been given penicillin for 10 days. So technically won’t be on antibiotics whilst on stims. Thankfully no cough

I will Call clinic tomorrow but just freaking out in interim. Feel lousy though - bloody typical I never get sick though!

Has anyone had similar experience at all? Xx

I had an infection and required antibiotics before Christmas (start Buserelin this week) and I asked both my GP and IVF clinic about the impact and they said it was absolutely fine. You can always check to be sure. Hope you feel better soon - tonsillitis is miserable without IVF drugs in the mix as well!

Thanks runuphill, tonsillitis was the last thing I needed as wanted to get fully psyched up for starting the cycle but oh well, could be a lot worse I know!

I started norerhisterone on Saturday so sounds like we will be doing our cycles at similar times. Hope yours goes well and that you start to feel better soon xx

Hello. Just make sure that your doctor knows you are trying to get pregnant so they can give you an antibiotic that is safe. I've had antibiotics during my ivf for urine infections and the clinic said it's fine.
