Flu straight after FET. Do i have any hope?

After a much needed break after my failed cycle, i took some time off and went away completely from this site for a couple of months. I had my frozen egg transfer yesterday, and in the morning of the transfer i had a cold. As the day progressed so did my symptoms. I now have the full blown flu. I have been sneezing non-stop, so hard that my ribs hurt, and i have been having coughing fits. Really feel like i'm in the dumps. Was feeling somewhat positive before the transfer as i worked so hard on myself in trying to think positive and feel positive. That's all gone away. I honestly don't know how this transfer is going to be successful?

Sorry to hear you are so unwell but well done on getting to your FET👍☺️

Your flu and sneezing won't compromise your chances. Painful ribs are not good 😣but it's a completely different system and the womb has a protective cushion.

my doctor likened the muscle tensing situation to squeezing a grain of sand out of a jam sandwich - not possible!

Fingers all crossed for you! Xx

Thank you for replying. It's just last cycle i did everything i could and it still failed. This transfer i am so unwell, and can't help but worry. I think even if i was well i would still have something to worry about lol. This 2ww is just terrible! x

I also got a cold right after I had my fresh transfer. I was sneezing, coughing, had a bit of temperature and a runny nose. I felt like you and thought it's all over. But I got my BFP and I have a 2 month old now :)

From what I've read, the immune system is not at it's best, to let the pregnancy stick (seen as a foreign object), otherwise the immune system would fight it off and we would not get pregnant. And read that given the size in the beginning (poppy seed) and uterus environment, you won't have a problem with sneezing and coughing (even if they are really bad).

Best of luck!

This has given me so much relief! I have been frantically trying to look for stories all over the internet to see if anyone has come out with a bfp straight after getting ill after transfer. I've seen forums, but people it's happened to have always updated with a bfn, so was getting really worried. But your reply has given me some comfort. Thank you! So happy to hear it worked for you and you now have a baby xx
