Mri to check retroverted womb?

So after much waiting today I met my doctor after a failed FET.

I have a super retroverted womb. So retroverted that at times its not even visible on ultrasound. He suggested an Mri and an Hsg. I also have both tubes blocked, tough he never really found out or gave me a reason why they are blocked.

Im very worried my tilted womb is the reason for all my failures.

Anyone in a similar situation?

Hi Lorita. I would have thought that it would be your blocked tubes that a possibly preventing pregnancy, not your retro versed womb. my thoughts of course. If your HSG shows that your tubes are open, then an old-fashioned solution might be to make love "doggy fashion" so as to tip your womb forward into a more normal position. However, it just maybe thta IVF is on the cards, i don't know. Thinking of you. Diane

Hi Lorita. So sorry to hear this. Have you had any counselling at all? There is a charity called the "British Infertility Counselling Association" who deal only with fertility matters and relationships. There is a charge but do have a look at their website and see what you think. No direct phone number I'm afraid. bica.net

I have a retroverted uterus and been pregnant 5 times, one ectopic, one missed misscarriage, two successful(my son is from a FET)and I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant, I don't think it should be a reason why you can't get pregnant it's just a different variation and position of the uterus, they say it's like being left handed instead of right handed. Is your doctor doing internal ultrasounds? If he is and still struggles to find your uterus so I'd say get a better doctor.... When I had my missed misscarriage I was referred to hospital and the gynaecologist there couldn't find my uterus and baby 😩..... Even though the day before someone found it perfectly. How do you know you have blocked tubes? xxxx

My doctor did an hsg 2 years ago before I started my ivf treatment. 3 cycles of ivf and still no baby. Out of our last 2 cycles we only got 2 blastocysts. My husband does have sperm issuea however the doc said these were by passed with Picsi. My eggs were all. Mature both cycles... 25 eggs in all. He is now saying we are to evalute womb further as my last transfer was pgs tested embryo and still bfn

What about doing an era test, sometimes the window when the uterus is receptive to an embryo is slightly different so it can't implant.... Have they mentioned if you have something called a hydrosalpinx affecting your tubes? That can also affect implantation xxxxxx

I did the Era test. I was receptive. As regards hydrosalpinx it was never mentioned. Maybe will be checked through hsg?

Have you ever had a lap for endometriosis? I have a retroverted uterus, my ovary is stuck behind it and dragging it back where its stuck to my bowel.

Even with this we had a successful ivf icsi pregnancy so hopefully this gives you hope

I have asked for a lap various times. My doctor does not beleive i have endo. He said the mri will give usban indication that there is endo and if yes we will do a lap. In my hearth i feel i do have it. Its the only thing we never explored so i pushed it this time.

Which dr doesnt think you have it? There are guidelines that gp's must follow in regard to endo. It should be dealt with separately from any fertility dr unless they are trained in endo which most gynae aren't.

My endo did show up on the mri because it was so bad. Hopefully if its endo it shows up on that

My gynecologist and neither the docs that treated me for Ivf. I just wish they did a laparoscopy but he is saying no need to go trough it. My tubes are blocked.. Tough they never found why. I suspect its because of endo maybe?

Could be. Mine came up as a hydrosalphainx or however its spelt on an ultrasound initially.

You can go to your dr for the referral to be checked for endo. Theres a good Facebook site with what your rights are via the NICE guidelines

You can seek advice else where the doctor I’m seeing at the minute has experience in endo and fertility in particular.people do laps privately so it is possible to seek a second opinion
