I've seen a few ladies on here talking about DHEA and the positive ivf results it brought. I considered taking it for our last round but in the end decided against it because I thought there seemed to be too many side affects to be self-medicating with it. But having seen so many of you talking about it I'm wondering if I should reconsider. Those of you who took it, was it prescibed for you or did you just buy it yourself? How much did you take? And did anyone have any adverse affects? I read a few articles like the one below which made me a bit scared of it...

DHEA experiences
Hi I took it and feel it gave me better quality eggs/embryos. I bought it online and DHEA recommended from my clinic. Only side effect I had was oily hair and skin. I felt it to be safe to take. But you need to do what you feel right. Good luck x
Thanks for your reply. How much did you take and where did you get it from? Apparently a lot of places online don't sell the dosage they say they're selling...would ve good to get some recommendations...
Hi there! My nhs ivf consultant recommended it to me and provided me with information on what to take and when. He couldn't prescribe it to me but told me where to get it from. I had no side effects taking it and I was on 75mg a day. I took it for around a year. Both cycles in which I was on micronized dhea, were actually a lot worse than my first private cycle of ivf when I wasn't on dhea, in which I got better numbers and quality. I had done a lot of reading in advance too and all of what I read said that those that took it, believed it had improved their cycles. On my nhs cycles, my follicle count was low, egg numbers low and quality really low. I hope you have better luck if you chose to use it x
