We’ve just booked a lovely family holiday for August with my sister and her family. We have also just been given the go ahead for our next fresh cycle which if all goes well transfer would be early Feb. Should I go ahead or wait a month? It may not be successful but if it is I don’t want to not be able to go on holiday.

Holidays..what to do?
Hiya, is there a reason you couldn’t go on holiday if it was successful? Are you thinking of how far along you’d be regarding flight etc or that’s its a Zika country? Xx
Thank you, I worry I would be too far along and if my pregnancy wasn’t straightforward I wouldn’t be able to go. If I delayed I wouldn’t be so far along. I will worry no matter what though
Yes I had this same dilemma as I thought I’d be too early in pregnancy to fly as I was planning on going to Sri Lanka in the summer and it’s a long flight so didn’t want to risk it. I ended up stressing myself out so much about it 🤦🏻♀️ and we ended up cancelling it anyway because of the attacks there.
I’d say maybe just wait one more cycle - it may work out that way anyway depending on your periods etc as they never arrive when we need them to 🙄 but that may work in your favor!
Try not to worry too much right now, IVF is the most difficult thing in the world to plan I have discovered! So worrying will not make any difference.
Good luck ☺️xxx
What difference would waiting a month make? Are you worried if successful you’d be too far along in the pregnancy to fly? I think most airlines will let you fly up to 36 weeks with a note from your doctor or midwife (single pregnancies).
Yes I worry I would be too far along but I guess it hasn’t even happened yet! I hesitated over booking and now I’m worrying about it all x
Yeah I guess you could potentially be quite far along actually. What a difficult decision.
If you’re prepared to wait a month, then I’d imagine that with a straightforward pregnancy you’d still be ok to fly at that point which might save you some worry.
I guess if you decided you really didn’t want to wait you’d have to accept in advance that there is a chance you might have to cancel the holiday but that’s the trouble with IVF - you don’t want to put life on hold “just in case”.
In my experience I would've been most comfortable travelling between 14-25 weeks, before that nausea would've ruined my holiday and since 25 weeks I just can't get comfy so a long flight would be a nightmare! Bit of a tough decision for you, I would say maybe delay by a month if possible? x
I’m thinking about starting jan instead of December. Need to work my dates out really. I kind of wish I’d not booked it yet but my daughter really missed out this summer as I was so ill with hyperemesis so I really need to make it up to her! X
We sacrifice so much during treatment I totally understand why you've booked yourselves a lovely holiday! x
