Hi everyone,
I think I have a touch of oral thrush. I’ll be 11 weeks pregnant this week. Does anyone know if I’m ok to use an antiseptic mouthwash?
Thanks in advance xx

Hi. I have been a dental nurse for over 20 years and if you think you have oral thrush then you need to see either your dentist or a doctor as you will need to be prescribed a medication for candidia infection. It’s usually drops that you swish around your mouth and then swallow.
In the mean time stay away from mouth wash and just use hot salt water mouth rinses.
But please see someone ASAP. Good luck xx
Hi,
Normally pregnant women can use antiseptic mouthwash as long as it is alcohol free!
Good luck!

Hi
I'm a dentist.
As advised by the previous post from the dental nurse - you need to see a dentist.
Midwives are fine I'm sure but they're not medics and they're not trained in the oral cavity, nor are GMPs.
It's nothing concering but if it was me, I'd be getting an appropriate prescription from my dentist

Hi Jebby. If you think you have oral thrush, then do see your GP or dentist. Usually caused by a yeast infection not bacteria, so perhaps an antiseptic mouthwash isn't the way to go?? Check with the experts. Good luck! Diane
