Pregnancy in an unknown location.

Hi I posted a few days ago asking for peoples help. I had a laparoscopy 2 weeks ago and then found out last weekend I was pregnant. Going by dates of my last period which was the 23rd of December I should be about 5 and a half weeks. Had an appointment for an early scan today but there was no sac, the lining of the uterus was thick so they have just classed it as a pregnancy of an unknown location. I am waiting on a phone call for results of of blood test to check my HCG levels. Anyone had anything similar? What was the outcome ?

Do you know how far along you are? Sometimes they can’t see anything and you have to go back and have more tests.

Sometimes it could be ectopic but again - you’ll need several blood tests.

Hope it all goes ok for you xx

Thanks for replying! I should be 5 and a half weeks going by my last period. I’ve got to go back on Sunday for another blood test to check hcg levels. Should receive a call with today’s blood test results sometime today.

I went for a 6 week scan and the first sonographer only found found one sac. Went to the epu and there were actually two - ok it ended in miscarriage but in my experience they do miss stuff. The sac would be really tiny this early, that’s probably why xx

Once you have hcg tests things should be clearer. I don't think they expect to see anything until you reach 2000. Everything is so small at this stage which means that things can change drastically in a few days. You are going through so much, I have been there myself and done tonnes of googling. For me it didn't work out as anyone would hope, but for many others it can and did change.

Wishing you all the best. You will be looked after very well and monitored closely - tests every other day to start and then weekly. Hopefully you get the positive news you want soon xx

Hi thanks for replying. Unfortunately they had problems in the lab today so I won't have my results until the morning. I suppose that won't make much difference anyway as I need to see when I have another test on Sunday how much they progress.

I'm really hoping we can get some answers in the next week as I am due to go on holiday and would hate yo go and just be constantly worried about something bad happening.

So sorry to hear yours didn't work out!

Really hope you get the answers soon and it all works out. I got there in the end. Now 17.5 weeks x

Oh congrats!!! I can't wait, I already have a little girl and she's at the age now where even she is asking for a little brother or sister.

in reply tojadevv91

Thank you. Only 7 years and 6 rounds of ivf to get there. Worth it in the end although I am still so worried something will go wrong x

I don't want to sound negative when i say the following, but i've had this twice and both times it was an ectopic, the reason why i've posted this is because if you start with any one sided pain or shoulder pain then go striaght to A&E as.ecoptics can potentially be very dangerous.

I didn't want to worry you but wanted to warm you. Did they look at your tubes when scanning? As one of mine was visible at 6 wks in my tube xx

Hi thanks for your reply. Tbh we never thought this would end well because of the laparoscopy. She did check my tubes and said there was nothing there either. I'm sort of hopefully couldn't be an eptopic as surely the dye test on my tubes would have flushed it out or am I being really stupid in thinking an eptopic is where it developes in the tubes.

I just hope we can figure it out soon as I'm due to go on holiday in under two weeks so would be great to have some answers.

Ectopics can occur in various places, normally the tubes though. Good they've checked your tubes today. I hope you manage to get some answers in the coming days. Horrible that you've had to go through all this and hope you do have all the answers by you hol xx

Oh Jade, I'm so sorry, how unsettling this whole thing has been for you. Thinking of you tomorrow. did they give you the photocopy information sheet about Pregnancy unknown location ? I found it useful, it stopped me googling sort of! My sonographer was really honest and said look I think I can see it there and showed me , but said she can't 100% say as it was so far down she said it looked like it was on its way out ?!? So gave me the same diagnosis of unknown location, it was really confusing... As you get your bloods back you'll have a clearer idea of where you stand ...and can feel less unsettled.

Keep us posted and fingers crossed you will have a relaxing holiday when you get there.

X

Hey thanks for replying. My levels were only 176 so they are hoping I'm just not as far gone as we thought. In for another blood test Sunday hoping they are doubling. I definately think it's not going to be successful, all my symptoms have died down.

Hi didn’t have the same situation but they could see a sac with nothing in but my hcg was 17500 rising to 23000 so thought it could be ectopic after 4 days 3 lots of bloods and another scan they did see a yolk sac had to wait 2w then confirmed we’d mc again. But at least they did find it, as it’s so tiny and wasn’t ectopic.

Hopefully they will see something soon 5w it can be missed.

Hi thanks for replying, got a call back with my blood results today. Hcg was only 176 so they are hoping I'm not as far gone as we thought, in for another one Sunday and hoping it doubles. Will have to go back every other day until it gets over 1000 as she said they won't be able to see a sac until it's over a 1000. I very highly doubt this will be an on going pregnancy but I just want to at least rule out eptopic before I go away on the 12th.

I was 9w so hopefully your hcg will rise they thought I might have got my dates wrong as it was only the size of 6w but there was no way I was wrong by 3w

I'm finding it hard to think my dates are wrong too my last period started on the 23rd of December and I usually ovulate really soon after. Love that the hospital are trying to keep positive about it but i just don't see it working out. So sorry to hear about your mc x

Don’t rule anything out just yet and hope for the best xx

That waa our 3rd mc 😪

Aw sorry to hear that, fingers crossed it will happen for you soon!!!!

This will be my 2nd, my 1st was before having my daughter and we have been struggling to fall since having her, it's been almost 3 years :(. I'm just trying not to over think things too much and trying not to read things on Google but it's hard not to lol

Hi so q little update. My hcg levels started last Thursday at 156 ( think I previously said 176) they went up to 490 on Sunday but only went up to 790 today. Not a great sign is it!

Hey I know this is such an old thread but I wanted to find out the outcome as I’m currently experiencing the same thing.

Hi hun well unfortunately for me it wasnt a good outcome. While abroad with my little family I started to bleed and unfortunately the day I got back they scanned me and everything was just progressing too slowly so I had to had a medicated miscarriage. Unfortunately 9 months later I'm still trying. I have everything crossed for you that your outcome is different!

I think that it is supposed to double every 72 hours rather than every 48. Keeping everything crossed for a big jump by Monday. I went through similar in March/ April last year. It's a horrible time waiting. Unfortunately for me it wasn't a good ending, but for many others all turns out ok xx
