I had severe cough from 5th week until 8th week , I continuously went to GP to ask for some tablets or syrup but my doctor said No. it was extremely hard, I just had ginger tea and hot drinks all the time .

I am 14 weeks now so I am much Better. Omg I struggled so bad with the cough and I am allergic to the word cough now . I had even blood on my cough mucus and rushed to emergency but still they don’t give anything and asked to take hot fluids . Watch out having banana as it made me so worst . Good luck and hope you feel better soon .

I had a dreadful cough that lingered for a few weeks recently when I was just over 20weeks pregnant. My GP prescribed me a linctus syrup which didn't take away the cough but eased it a bit. I took spoonfuls of honey, lemon and ginger tea but the cough still persisted. Hang in there...it will go but I feel your misery and frustrations. It is so much worse when pregnant. I also took Lockets and other throat lozenges which helped a bit. Feel well soon.xo

I’ve read somewhere about cough syrup actually helping getting pregnant maybe do a wee google search? Same with Benadryl. Weird I know but could have a double benefit x

You can have glycerin and honey cough syrup. Not great but better than nothing

Suggest asking a pharmacist for advice x

Honey, Lemon and ginger in hot water is all that’s allowed. Sorry, it’s a pain I know but that’s the nhs advice x

Sorry to hear you’re unwell.

I think the only safe thing you can take is paracetamol. Personally I wouldn’t touch anything else whilst on 2ww just in case.

I think cough medicines aren’t that great anyway - I swear by honey and lemon microwaved together my late Gran swore by it 😊 Also try either ice or ice lollies- this should reduce swelling and inflammation 😊 keep your fluids up too- plenty of water 😊 rest as much as possible 😘

Hope you feel better soon and best of luck with everything xoxo

I also have a cold with quitw bad cough for past 5 days and went to Gp 2 days ago. He recommended only fluids, lemon and honey and paracetamol for pain/fever. Sorry but he specified NOT to take any type of over the counter cough medicine. I'm 22 weeks pregnant...
