You may get less eggs, but they may also be better quality embryos due to the lower doses of drugs.
I’m the opposite end of the scale with really low amh, but I did 2 rounds on 450iu and no good embryos, then I did mild Ivf and my best dose was 150iu where I got 6 eggs that gave me 5 blasts to freeze!
Do you happen to have polycystic ovaries? Not the syndrome. I have high amh (not as high as you) and they say the more follicles you have the more hormones they produce which nice misleading amh results...in the end it didn't matter as long as you're producing blastocysts by day 5 I guess
No I don't have polycystic ovaries either. It's weird. I've read a study though that suggests lean women tend to have high amh. There's no rhyme or reason why I have high amh. However even my mum didn't go through the menopause til very late 50s so maybe it's just genetic? All the ladies in my work are like 47 going through menopause. Not sure what the normal age. Either way, I'll take high ovarian reserve! X
I'm certainly not thin in fact I'm obese! But a higher amh is usually a good thing so enjoy it. I've got a million other issues though so at least one thing on my side eh
My AMH wasn’t quite as high as yours at 34 but I don’t have polycystic ovaries either. I did antagonist protocol too with 37.5 menopur and fyremadel. I had one injection of suprecur too on day 8. I responded super fast, was ready for collection at the first scan (day 7) and only stimmed for 9 days (and it really should only have been 8 but the clinic were so busy with other EC and couldn’t fit me in).
I had no issues with the protocol, they collected 10 eggs and I had minor OHSS afterwards but that was fine as they had recommended a freeze all cycle. I was really happy with all the clinics decisions about my protocol (although in retrospect I wish I had went for ICSI rather than IVF).
In honesty you’ll probably not get as many eggs with this protocol but it’s quality over quantity right. 🤞🤞🤞 xx
Thank you. I commence fyremadel Monday. Feel a bit mislead by my clinic as they've told me there's no way I can get OHSS again and that there's no reason I'll get less eggs 😔 x
I also have a very high AMH. My last attempt was short protocol and I was on 75 of menopur and 75 of ovaleap. Very low doses and I got 19 eggs so I really wouldn’t be concerned about getting less eggs with less drugs with your AMH. I also got OHSS from this protocol. They think it was the ovaleap that gave me OHSS so they are just giving me menopur this time at a slightly higher dose. I’m happy only doing on injection this time but I hope I don’t get OHSS again.
Thanks for your reply. Im hopeful I get just as many eggs but better quality. 13/16 mine fertilised last time but only 3 made it to day 5. Impossible to say whether egg or sperms at fault but I'm taking heaps of supplements x
It’s so hard to know. I got 8 to day 5 but they only froze 5 of them. We paid to have an enhanced semen analysis done after our second FET failed which highlighted a few potential problems. We still have 3 in the freezer but we aren’t entitled to anymore NHS funded FETs. Also given the results from my husbands tests I’m not so sure any of them will be viable anyway despite their high grading. It’s just so impossible to know and feels like so much trial and error is involved. I hope for the both of us they got the right protocol this time. Good luck with everything.
I have very high AMH (mine is due to PCOS). I was on low doses of fyremadel and bemfola, and had to coast at the end. I got 37 mature eggs so I think you never really know until you get there.
They probably want to be extra cautious as you’ve had OHSS before, and like others have said it’s quality over quantity. Good luck love xx
You basically just stop the injections to try to stop any more follicles growing or the ones you have getting any bigger (I think!). Yep we got 11 to freeze. Did you get to freeze any from your first batch? Good luck for Monday! X
Thank you so much. From my first cycle I had 18 eggs, 16 of which were mature and 13 fertilised. Ended up with just 3 good ones though by day 5. Felt like I'd lost loads. This time we're having imsi instead of icsi. Plus I've had endometrial scratch this cycle 🤞
Ooh I’ve not heard of imsi (off to google! 😂) I think changes to protocol will always feel like a step in the right direction rather than them ploughing away with the same plan. Hopefully this one will be it for you! X
Imsi is whereby they zoom in on sperm loads more under the microscope to choose only the very best. Not proven according to the hfea but to me it seems a no brainer to rule out any with abnormalities x
Hard to know really. I have a high amh too so I was on short protocol and low dose stims for both of my fresh cycles. I got 16 eggs the first time and 19 the second time. Don’t be anxious. Sometimes you have to trust in the process xx
Thank you. Im on day 4 low dose stims. I feel like they're growing already. I know that seems crazy but my abdomen /ovary area feels tighter than usual. C'mon little eggies! X
Hi Im 38 and have pcos. I too have a high AMH 70. Im about to start this week on 225 ui menopur and 0.25mg fyremadel. This is our first try so not sure if that sounds right. I was told it’s short protocol so I didn’t have to down reg and was just given a date to start. I was under the impression that it should be a good amount of eggs due to amh. So fingers crossed you get a good amount of eggs.
Hi Mgibbs I'm 39 and my amh is 41, I have pco but not the syndrome. I just did short course with 187.5IU gonal f for 9 days (fyremadel throughout) and they got 12 eggs, I had 22 follicles but some of my larger ones were empty. We had 8 fertilised so not sure how many embryos we will get. I knew I'd be doing a freeze all due to possible ohss and that we want to do pgt-a, I did a buserilin trigger and haven't got ohss. So very grateful that I have avoided that but I was also of the impression I'd get lots of eggs which is part of the reason to do pgt-a, guess that's the first cycle thing, it's a bit experimental 🤷♀️ and as everyone says it's quality over quantity, good luck! 🧡
That’s very good you got 8 fertilised fingers crossed things continue to go well.
I’m having freeze all with icisi. Neither were mention at the initial consultation for us. dr made it out as though conventional ivf and fresh transfer would be better though I do think they are just very clinical and rush the appointment a little and then take the information in after that. It wasn’t until consenting appointment I was told. For the trigger they’ve given both brussrelin and ovritelle.
It’s been postponed twice before and have arranged time off again and don’t want to mess work about. At the minute I can’t wait to get started just to feel as though I know what’s happening and not feel in the dark.
Hope everything continues in the right direction for you.
