Hi everyone

Just wondered if anyone was taking asprin with ivf/icsi at all?

Anyone had any good or bad experiences or particular reasons for taking it?

I will ask my clinic but they havent been the best with extra advice, have had to do my own research.

Currently taking vit d, pregnaplan and coq10 in preparation for round 2. Trying to do what I can to make it successful! My friend mentioned it as she took it before her ivf but that was 6 years ago.

Any advice welcome ☺ xx

Im taking it however this is on the advice from my clinic. My NHS clinic had me take it too. Its mainly to help with blood flow to the uterus for me and Im over 40 which seems to be a pretty common thing.xx

Hi Italy. I would mention any medication to your specialist before taking it. Low dose soluble aspirin or heparin injections are sometimes offered if you have had failed cycles of treatment, to hopefully ensure good blood supply to your womb lining, and prevent clot formation. Diane

Hi. Aspirin in early pregnancy can be linked to birth defects so be careful taking anything not prescribed. I didn't know this when trying (and obviously struggling) with our first and took for the cycle before I got pregnant. My little girl has a congenital birth defect, and I found out after she was born that aspirin can cause birth defects. I hadn't found it on any research I had done before. And I was actually told to take it after my 12 week scan (birth defect happened before this date so probably wasn't caused by this) so it can be a good thing to take. But it is worth knowing that there are risks, and therefore to make sure your specialist knows absolutely everything you are taking in addition to what they prescribe. If there is no history of pre-menopausal high blood pressure in your family, and you clot normally, you probably don't need it. Though I know you want to do everything you can to maximise your chances. Grapefruit can naturally thin your blood (you can't eat grapefruit if you are on blood thinners) so that may be a safer alternative? I wish you the best of luck with your cycle x
