Ok you lovely ladies. I need your advice. Been off the pill since April 2016. Started peeing on opk’s about 6 months later. Fell pregnant October 2017 but baba stopped growing at 6 weeks. Had a managed miscarriage at 9 weeks as it wasn’t happening naturally.

What should I do now? I’m unexplained infertility. We don’t get a free ivf as hubbys got a boy from his previous marriage. We are in a very fortunate position to pay for our ivf. It’s been 3 months now since my miscarriage and I haven’t fallen pregnant. I’m 35 now and worried about egg quality. Ive started taking myo insotiol anyone had any good experiences with this?

Should I wait? Or head for ivf?

Hey lovely

I personally haven't had any experience with this but know that some people do take it and end up falling pregnant you never know if it's that or just pot luck.

Ultimately how do you feel do you want to head straight for Ivf or give it a go and wait? Its up to you lovely do what's right for you. Me personally wouldn't have the strength I don't think for ivf I'll always, try naturally if it doesn't happen I'll just have to accept it. Ivf in my opinion is another level of strength and focus altogether. My 👒goes off to ivf couples big admiration for any one that goes through that journey 💗💗🤗😘😘

How long are the waiting lists at clinics near you? And what other tests have you had? The nhs probably won’t consider you infertile any more since you’ve had a miscarriage within the last six months but hopefully you’ve already had things like blood tests to see what your hormone levels are. If not you could probably get these done at a private clinic if your GP won’t help. Knowing your fsh, amh and antra-follical count might help you to work out whether you should be stressing about your age at this point as it might help you to know whether your fertility has begun to drop.

I assume your opks show you do ovulate every month? What about Hubbie, has he had a sperm count?

I really think more information would help you make this choice. If you do contact a private infertility clinic, bear in mind that they are businesses and it is in their interests to sell you ivf. If your own GP is good then he or she might be a worthwhile alternative sounding block.

Thanks you have given me a lot to think about. Had all the bloods, sperm analysis and hsg done on the nhs 2017. Do you think I should get my egg reserve counted again? In April of last year the consultant said it wasn’t an issue.

I just assumed you don’t have to wait for private treatment? Is there a waiting list if you go private? I’m going back to the hospital in March to discuss what she thinks we should do next. That will be 4 cycle of trying after my miscarriage. Hopefully I’ll be pregnant!

Just worry that I will run out of time or I have some autoimmune problem as I have two autoimmune diseases already. Xx

It really depends how busy the private clinic is in the area where you live. Round me it’s about a six week wait with a private clinic so not long.

It sounds like you don’t need to stress too much about your age given what the consultant said. Personally I was keen to give natural conception a try for at least six months after my miscarriage (natural conception) but I had ivf funding so actually it was only four months, because I had to start treatment or lose the funding. It was a bfn but I got pregnant naturally again in month ten after my first miscarriage. The general medical consensus seems to be that you are very likely to fall pregnant again if you’ve done it once and you’re not very likely to miscarry again. Unfortunately I’m one of the unlucky ones who has miscarried again but we have found out my husband has a chromosome translocation which only affects one in 500 people, so we really are the exception not the rule.

IVF is not easy and nor is it guaranteed to work as you know, so if you decide to go for it, make sure you’re feeling resilient and have the time and space in your life to fit it in... I’m sure you already know all this from being on this site so all that’s left is for me to wish you luck in whatever you decide. I’ll have my fingers crossed for you xx

Thank you for all your advice. I think I should perhaps be patient and see what happens over the next 6 months. Im really sorry about your two losses. It must be so hard to process when everyone tells you are very unlikely to miscarry twice.

I hope the the IVF with the genetic testing goes well for you and your other half xx

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, hugs for you! In spite of all the odds the good part is you can finance your IVF which is indeed half the battle won against infertility. Also, I'd suggest that wait for at least another 3 months (if you're not in a real hurry) before moving onto IVF as after a miscarriage it might just take time for the body to get reproductively ready .. especially when a C&D (managed miscarriage) has to be performed. You're 35 which means the peak reproductive age is still on you for 1-2 more years.

What does the diagnosis say, do they have any clear cause of that's interfering with your conception? Myoinsotiol is a form of vitamin B (as far as I know), I haven't had it during my TTC or pregnancy but I've heard people saying it helps... however, that depends on what's has been causing infertility in your case. If egg quality is the sole concern you might as well consult your Dr for DHEA or CoQ10 which are both effective in improving egg quality. Also, you'll need some healthy switches in lifestyle (the both of you) which comes handy and plenty of the online blogs. Wish you all the luck for getting pregnant soon! :)

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I was considering taking the CoQ10 but I was concerned about trying too many things as once? Do you think I need worry about how the supplements might interact?

I know myo insoitol is for ladies with pcos. I haven’t been diagnosed with that; my androgen levels weren’t quiet high enough and I didn’t have quiet enough cycts on my ovaries so I was borderline. I was told losing weight would help. I’ve read myo isoitol helps your body deal with sugar better. So I figured it may help level out my blood sugar rather like farmarar?

Thanks you for the kind words and advice! It’s a lonely old road x

I’ve just read your bio. Download ‘it starts with the egg’ it gives you loads of advice on supplements to take, according to the cause of your infertility. It’s backed up with ‘some’ research but I find it comforting to read.

Good luck!

Oh thank you so much! :) I'd definitely read it and see if I could find anything significant for my next cycle. Yes, drug interaction are a big thing as far as I know and needs to be considered, especially when serious drugs are involved. As long as you don't self-medicate you really don't have to worry about drug interactions. It is the medical practitioners a headache.. your Dr will take care of that - it's their part to make sure all the meds prescribed work individually. 2 of my embryos from previous IVF ended up in BFNs and I've got only one more left which we're planning to transfer in summer (trying to schedule up in 2-3 week of May). My Dr said they'll start DHEA before my next round of egg extraction but I just hope the last embie does some miracle. Infertility is a living hell, but somehow the forum and the lovely ladies here make it bearable! :)

Wish you luck for the fertility road ahead! Feel free to write back anytime you need me. :)
