Can anyone help me with the below? My clinic nor the sperm bank are being very helpful, hence why I need you lovely ladies!
1) Should I purchase MOT10 or MOT20?
2) Is MOT10 better quality sperm than MOT20, or just more volume of the same quality?
3) How many "straws" should I purchase (they are expensive)? Do you need one straw per cycle, or can I purchase a MOT20 straw and it lasts for many cycles?
4) Roughly, how many cycles would an MOT10 or MOT20 straw last for?
5) Does blood type matter? I read something about this, but not sure if there is any truth to it?
I’ve no idea what MOT10 or 20 are but I can answer the other questions.
Blood type doesn’t matter but depending on your clinic your CMV does. I had to have a test to see if I was CMV positive or negative before I ordered. If your blood type is CMV negative then you need a negative donor as your blood antibodies can react against the positive donor if you choose the wrong type.
I only purchased 1 straw at a time. This would work for one IUI or one round of IVF/ICSI.
Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions x
Hi I don’t know the answers to most of your question but I would say blood type does matter if you have negative blood and have anti D in your system maybe from a previous pregnancy or miscarriage. I’m sure if that’s the case your doctors would advise. I had anti d so needed a negative egg donor and luckily my hubby was negative so no probs xxx
Hi Anna. Doesn’t really matter. However, if you have a rhesus negative blood group, you will be offered an anti D injection to protect baby from developing an incomparable blog group - quite safe. Diane
I am A negative, and dont know CMV status (but I'm told it doesnt matter).
Wondering if I should only pick a negative RH donor sperm, but there are already so few donors. I also wonder if picking an A+ if I'm giving the kid a chance to have a more common blood group.
Its overwhelming I know I can have an injection at 28 weeks, but still wondering if I'm stacking the odds against my baby. I only plan 1, but you never know, and I think it can impact 2nd pregnancies..
