Just wondering if anyone has any advice or is/has been in a similar situation to me?
We have been trying to conceive for a year now with no luck and I’ve had bloods and an ultrasound scan over the last few months which have shown I am not ovulating and I have cysts on my ovaries but my hormone levels look normal. I’m also not having periods and my cholesterol level came back a bit high. My doctor said I have polycystic ovaries but maybe not PCOS (not very helpful!) so I’m really confused about what to do for the best to help myself. I’ve got an appointment with the infertility gynecology department where I’m hoping to find out more but this isn’t until 1 October so I’d really like to do anything I can myself before this appointment.
I’ve read myo-inositol can be helpful for ovulation and regulating periods but I don’t want to take this if it would do more harm than good. Has anyone tried it?
I have always exercised around 3 times a week so am keeping this up and I’ve improved my diet over the last month, trying to eat low GI with low sugar/sat fat and no processed food.
I'm not overweight and have a BMI of 22 so right in the middle of the healthy range for my height/weight.
If anyone has any ideas/advice it would be great!

During this long wait, you can to your GP and ask about myo-inositol. I have started taking it for a month. In the middle of my IVF so can’t say it has worked but have not read any side effects. But best is to double check with your GP.
Another thing is acupuncture.
I do not ovulate naturally and my periods are very very irregular. So I started myo and acupuncture and it helped. I had a cyst last month when the clinic scanned and they cancelled my cycle. And then I stared acupuncture, the cyst came out with the period I had few days ago.
Hi lovely, I have PCOS and went on clomid after TTC for a year. Diet and exercise help (actually doing too much exercise can negatively impact too) and plenty of sleep and low stress. Acupuncture and meditation too. Lots of water, all the vitamins (I use Zita west) and myo insitol won't harm so no harm trying. My fertility consultant also prescribed Metformin (used for diabetes but also helps your hormones to work better by effectively mopping up all the excessive insulin which gets in the way in ladies with PCOS). If you're anything like me it helps to feel like you're doing something to help whilst you wait for your appointments, so maybe try your GP? If it helps, I had really irregular periods with PCOS and we were lucky to concieve on our second cycle...we used an ICSI cycle that time. Fingers crossed and best of luck! Xx
Thanks everyone for the tips. I've been using OPKs, taking pre-conception vitamins and tracking my temps so will carry on with all that. I also tried acupuncture for a while but it didn't make a difference for me and unfortunately i had to stop as it was getting too expensive.
It definitely helps to feel like i'm doing something whilst waiting for my appointment! So i might book another GP appointment and ask about the inositol. At my last GP appointment i was just told i'd be referred and to wait for the appointment but not given any other info on PCOS or how to deal with it, so i might go back and ask what i can do while i wait.
Thanks again and its lovely to hear some journeys with a positive outcome! xx
