Progynova - Headaches CD7?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been taking 8mg Progynova daily since CD1. I’m now CD7 and have experienced bad headaches for a couple of days. Today’s been really painful, alongside nausea which I think is due to my headache been so bad.

I’ve read it can be a side effect. Did anyone else experience this and have any tips to manage them? I’m nervous to take paracetamol alongside - I’m nervous in general about any medication even if it’s over the counter! I’ve been trying to drink loads of water but it’s not really helpful.

My scan isn’t until the 11th, so I’ve another 8 days of taking the tablets so hoping I don’t have 8 more days of bad headaches! Xx

Hi. I’m on day 2 as well, same dose and no headaches but very irritable and tearful. These hormones are rough! I’d email your clinic and check it out as it could be a long 8 days otherwise. Best of luck with your FET and keep in touch, it’s nice to follow others who are at the same stage of the process xxx

Thank you! I do feel a little more emotional as well - definitely hormones!!! When is your scan to check your endometrium lining? Mine is Monday, hoping it’s all okay! Best of luck with your FET too! Xx

Monday for me too! Really hoping the linings am and transfer goes ahead sooner rather than later. Hating having to balance work around all the appointments. I’m going to take a few days off afterwards as it’s too stressful otherwise. Sounds like you’ve got some good advice re your headaches from others with the same issue, I hope they ease off xx

Eek good luck! Are you taking anything else to help with your lining? I’m drinking red leaf tea which is actually quite nice!

I also hate having to balance work and treatment. I’m going to take three days off including day of transfer so I can just rest and not think about work.

My timetable came through with me taking progesterone from Wednesday next week, so assuming my transfer if all is well will be w/c 18th! Xx

I’m not. I don’t want to jinx myself but my lining seems to have been ok in the past so hopefully it’ll be fine next Monday. I’m drinking a lot of pomegranate juice and taking 75mg aspirin both of which are meant to have a anti inflammatory/anti oxidant effect. I’m not convinced it’ll make much difference but it least it makes me feel like I’m doing something!xx

Ah yeah, I’m drinking pomegranate juice as well - also not so bad! I was told by my original consultant to take 75mg baby aspirin daily when/if I fall pregnant but my new consultant doesn’t think it’s necessary - it’s interesting that different doctor’s say different things!

Fingers crossed for our scans Monday! Sounds like we could be having transfers around the same time! 🤞🏻💫✨

Hey, I’m sorry you are having side effects with Progynova, unfortunately with IVF you don’t stop Progynova until 14 weeks pregnant. I’m 10 weeks pregnant and the headaches hasn’t stop, I’ve been told some are experiencing more side effects with this medication, try to drink more water, that’s something that kind of helped me.Best of luck xx

Congratulations on your pregnancy - how are you feeling about it all? Did you conceive with your medicated FET? ✨ xx

Thank you 😊 I’m really grateful, of course really worried can’t wait to finish 12 weeks. Yes dear it was a PGS tested medicated FET. Xx

I’m really sorry you’re experiencing this. It’s horrible. I had the same thing with progynova. I think I even wrote a post about it ages ago as well. Lots of water, rest if you can and those ice pack things for joint pain that go in the freezer (they can be warm too) were really really helpful xx

Thank you! Sorry you had the same as well.. did it work out okay for you?

I ended up taking paracetamol to help me sleep and I’ve woken up feeling a little less achy which is good! Back at work today but thankfully at home in my lounge wear so I can at least try to rest. Xx

I found when I introduced the progesterone the headaches got better. Not sure why, maybe more balanced hormones? xxx

Yeah, that would make sense! I introduce them next week so hopefully I’ll be fine - I didn’t have many symptoms on the progesterone I don’t recall last time! Xx
