I'm on day 4 of prontogest injections in my 2WW. I have a desk job, so after sitting down all day, by the time I get home I'm in unbearable pain. I must confess I am cycling to work but its still preferable than the train and tube but I am going to crack very soon with the cycling. Does everyone else taking it find it this bad? Or do I need to man up? Be honest! I'm definitely feeling really sorry for myself and have lots of long drives coming up and a week of doing the injections myself. I'm terrified about how I'm going to get through the latter. Any advice on how to get through this or make it easier?! Xxx

Do you always freeze/Ice up the area before injecting? I found that helped a lot, are you alternating each side you inject every day too? still painful when sitting down etc with having to do it in the sameish place but makes it a little easier. I had to do mine every day for 14 weeks altogether so ended up very bruised but it wasn’t too bad.
Thank you. Does icing just help the actual injection? Because that bit is fine and yes I'm alternating. I think I need to massage it more and try to take breaks and walk around. Xxx
I’ve been on the prontogest injections for over 4 weeks now as I’m 7 weeks +1. They are sore.
What I do..Get a hot water bottle ready in advance. As soon as the needle is pulled out put the hot water bottle on for 30 seconds, take it off and massage the area for a minute and then keep rotating for about 10 minutes between hot water bottle and massage. Always inject in alternative sides. I tried injecting on my left side twice in a row as my left side is always less sore. This was a mistake as my whole buttock bruised badly. Even with all this because I’ve been injecting for a month now my buttocks are full of lumps. Also make sure you’re warming the vial before the injection ( I put it under the hot water bottle whilst I’m getting everything ready)
I keep telling myself it’s all worth it!
Hi, I’m sorry you suffer a lot, it’s not easy with all these drugs to get administer! I was injecting them myself and I’m feeling for you as I also was cycling to work during my treatment up to transfer day! You are fine to do so yourself but if you feel someone can do better for you and you have such person handy use them too. With my first pregnancy my hubby was mostly doing this for me, but this time round I had to cope with them more mysel! In my opinion prontogest is prime drug , I’ve requested one over pessaries, in fact in my current pregnancy I was on both prontogest and pessaries -worked for me cos I’m 36+pregnant (I’m unexplained but maybe I had issues with progesterone, this never was found out)!
It was the hell of pain to get them inside at times, as you I’ve suffered a bit. Sometimes I’ve had symptoms as getting proper cold like with them! What was helping me it was to warming up the liquid before getting them inside-put the vial in your bra for half an hour before scheduled injection and the liquid will be more watery so will be better to administer! Try also alternate sides each time you getting them, massage well the injected place. If you notice one side more painful then the other avoid to inject in it for few days! These were my tricks. I was in lot of pain and if I’m honest I’ve waited the day of stopping them dearly 🙈😂but they’ve done the job for me so I hope it will do for you!
