DHEA

I have heard a lot of opinions/ recommendations on DHEA and have taken it a few times in cycles and found my egg quality to be better with it. I am currently taking it, but I remember people saying they took more than the recommended 25mg daily dosage, is that true? TIA xx

I took 75 daily but because of its side effects I reduced it to 50.x

Do you mind me asking what side effects you had? x

I started having heart palpitations and headache but I felt better with 50 mg.x

I only take 50mg as I haven’t had my dhea level checked, the first 3 mths I took it before I was pregnant I noticed greasy hair and spots but this time round I’ve not noticed it not yet anyway.

In the book it starts with an egg it is only recommended if you are diagnosed with ‘diminished ovarian reserve ‘. I took it last cycle as was convinced at 43 needed all the help I could get but had the worst results ever. However it was also my first time taking Menopur I suspect my body did not respond well to it.

This cycle no DHEA but still took ubiquinol and changed FSH drugs to gonal f. Have 7 measurable follicles so something is blooming working. Just hoping the quality there 🤞🏼

I see. It is a tricky one isnt it??! xx

You may already be doing this but try to take it for 3 full months prior to your cycle for maximum effect, as this is the time the body takes to prepare the eggs that will be available that cycle x

I took 3x25mg so 75mg per day and you need to do it for around 3 months to get the full benefits although I have seen ladies take it for around 6wks and it still helped.xx

Yeah I agree with you, thank you. Seems to help mainly. Hope you are good xx

Where can I get DHEA?I have also heard DHEA is improving the eggs quality but couldn't find a place to buy it. When I asked my consultant if there is anything I can do to improve egg's quality she said no. But my friend who now has a wee boy after her third IVF said her egg quality and number were improved a lot after taking DHEA. Three times a day total 75mg.

I ordered mine on the internet. The best kind is micronised DHEA but its not possible to get this in the UK unless you are lucky and manage to order it from the USA and it get through customs so the next best thing is the unmicronised version. I got mine from Biovea.xx

in reply toCinderella5

Thank you so much! just went on Biovea website and they do sell DHEA ! :D Thanks you again and best of luck with your next round. Xx

Well I didnt get a pregnancy but I definitely got better quality embryos, still only got 3x5 day blastocysts from 2 cycles however it was better than I got before I tried it. You could try ubiquinol too, I didnt use this which I kick myself for as other ladies have had success with both.xx

I took 75 daily for 3 months and got 7 eggs as compared with 1 the previous cycle. Im currently 13 weeks pregnant with a frostie from that cycle so im sold on DHEA x

How sweet!! Congratulations :) your story is so similar to my friend's. I am thinking to go for 25mg ×2 daily to see if I have any side effects then increase to 3 pills. 3 times a day seems like a normal way to take EHDA. Thanks for sharing your story and huge congratulations! :D xx
