Hi mixed emotions as had Beta Preg test today and over the moon that BFP but clinic said Progesterone a bit low (it was 26.4 nmol/L)
They have advised putting Utrogestan medication up from 800mg per day to 1600mg per day. 3 times a day vaginally and then 2 orally just at bedtime as can cause dizziness.
A little worried as had previous MC and wondered if anyone else had this and also I've heard of progesterone injections? Are these more effective?
Thanks😊

I got my progesterone tested between transfer and OTD but my levels were even lower than yours, under 20. Dr put utrogestan up from 5 to 8 per day, same as they've told you to do, although all vaginally, and stayed on that until about 10 weeks (now 34 weeks). It's a pretty high dose, I've not seen anyone else on here told to take that much. Hope it does the trick for you xxx
Thank you! 😊 That is really reassuring! I'm waiting on them coming back to me with some info on what it ideally should be but they have asked for me to get it checked next week again to ensure it is rising. My HCG number was high so that's also reassuring. You just try to ensure you are absolutely giving it your best shot 🙄. thanks for responding and good luck with rest of your pregnancy 👍😊
Congratulations 💕 can I ask what your HCG was? My clinic didn’t measure progesterone after a BFP but I did enquire about lubion as I had it once before. They said I should need it as my pre-transfer progesterone was 55 but I guess I have no idea what it is now x
Hi there , i recently got my preogesterone tested and its border line ie 20 ,alsothe gp says should be atleast 30 to conceive .. dont know what to do now..also can this be the reason of not conceiving?just confused
Yes day 21 is right as you would have ovulated by that day regardless of your cycle length.
I tested day 19 but I knew I’d ovulated as I was testing it at home. It might be worth you doing that next month? The digital clear blue advances are really good and easy to read. I got mine from Amazon xx
Congratulations on your BFP! I am currently 8 weeks 4 days on my 5th pregnancy (miscarried previous 4) my progesterone hasn't dropped (I'm on cyclogest pessaries twice a day) but there was a problem with my oestradiol and my doc put me on medication straight away to rectify it.
I think the positive thing for those of us who have trouble conceiving/maintaining pregnancies is that our doctors keep such a close eye on us at the start of pregnancy that it is possible to rectify hormone levels that dip or aren't rising. I hope the new dose of utrogestan levels help and you have a healthy and happy pregnancy
Thank you and I hope your pregnancy continues really well.
I'm on a mega dose of both Progynova and Utrogestan which sometimes gives a bit of a wobble but I need to keep the faith that the doctor knows what she is doing. I've not heard of very many people who have been on such high a dose! I'm on 16mg of Progynova and 4 times a day for the Utrogestan so 1600mg 😳
Sending positive vibes for a continued healthy pregnancy for you 😊
Hi Mediteraneanconvert. This must seem very scary for you. However, I would trust your clinic, who want the best for you. As soon as your own levels start to increase, they will be able to reduce it again. Thinking of you. Diane
My progesterone tested at 35 the day after transfer. Although this falls within the normal range (above 30), my clinic advised me to up my intake. I am now on 400 vaginally morning and evening, as well as a lubion injection at lunchtime.
I read that the tablets and injections are equally as effective. I also read that taking the tablets vaginally and orally does not show up in your blood as accurately as injections but they are still doing the job they're supposed to do. X
