So I just thought I'd post about my EC experience as I was absolutely terrified going in and felt sick with nerves (it was probably a good thing you can't eat before the procedure!).
I was pleasantly surprised though. Everyone at the clinic is super lovely, so I knew I was in good hands, but today they were extra attentive and reassuring. We went in, had everything explained again, and then they put the venflon in my arm. Honestly that was the worst bit of the day as they couldn't get it in and had to have 2 goes! I then had IV antibiotics and an anti sickness tablet before heading into theatre.
Once in there, a lovely anesthetist gave me some IV sedatives whilst the doctors and nurses faffed around down the business end. And that's all I remember. Next thing I know I was back in the room with my husband, being asked if I'd like tea and toast!
They collected 10 eggs and whilst apparently I came back, moved myself off the trolley and into bed and talked rubbish for a bit before sleeping it off, I literally don't remember a thing.
I really hope this puts your mind to rest if you're in for your EC soon. We're now keeping everything crossed that some of our little eggs fertilise and we get good news over the next few days ready for transfer on the weekend or early next week.
