Hi everyone, I had my egg collection on Wednesday 7th Feb.
The staff were amazing but, the sedation didn’t really work for me. I remember practically everything and felt everything, it was very painful at times and I could feel the moment they went into a follicle 😣 pain reduced slowly after I came out and just had the usual soreness and aches around the area and my thighs since. Bleeding has stopped too.
Just had a call to say that of the 11 eggs they collected, 10 were mature and 7 have fertilised normally. They will monitor those now and call me each day (except say 4) to give an update.
I’m booked in for transfer on Monday. This is good news but I can’t help but feel like a realist and nervous x

Everything is looking good Just have a restful weekend - take it easy and eat healthy diet and fluids Read a good book - you have got this ! Normal to feel nervous
I know! After reading a lot of the other comments I was expecting to feel asleep and not remember a thing but, completely the opposite 😫 glad it was a good outcome though, so worth it. Thank you x
My NHS clinic only uses 'light' sedation which it turns out means basically nothing, like having taken a paracetamol- I have a pain condition and found the two collections I had with them awful. I was completely awake and felt everything. The first one I had heavy bleeding and fainted after, the second one my blood pressure and pulse went so high they had to stop and were going to admit to a&e. I asked after the first for sedation and they said they don't have the facilities. In between I had normal sedation at a private clinic and it was a breeze - out instantly and had no pain or bleeding and was up and about immediately after none the worse. It sounds on those numbers that you may never need another collection (fingers crossed!) but if you do please check with your clinic what they used and whether they can offer you proper or full sedation as it sounds like they gave you what I had on the NHS, which does nothing.
Thanks for the reply and sorry you those horrible experiences! I’m at a private clinic so surprised it was so light, unless my body just didn’t take to it. I was expecting to feel as you did when you went to a private clinic. Fingers crossed I won’t need another. Hope your journey is going well x
