Please could I ask for some help. We have been ttc for 4 and a half years. I have had 2 miscarriages in the last 9 months. One of which was an ivf pregnancy. Our consultant did some tests since our last round to check and see whether there was a reason for our miscarriages. It was found that I had an autoimmune thyroid disease and have since been on thyroxine. I found out yesterday that our next round of ivf is to start in May. However, this morning we found out we are pregnant (v. early - 4 weeks). I am over the moon but terrified we will miscarry again. I need to tell the consultant as he said my bloods need to be monitored if I fall pregnant. Will I now lose my nhs funding for our final round? My fear is we will lose this baby and then have no ivf and have to start all over again.
Any advice please let me know.

It would be up to your funding body, but generally if you have a live birth they won't fund any further rounds. Best of luck. Deffinatey tell your doctor as they may want to put you on something to stop your body rejecting the embryo
Congratulations! You will need to up your thyroxine dose now, jump over to the thyroid network and get some advice re dose and levels. And yes, please do get your thyroid bloods done again asap. As a fellow ivf'er and sufferer of an autoimmune thyroid disease it makes me so happy to read a positive result, I wish you all the luck in the world for a sticky little bean xxx
Dear all thank you so very much for all your advice. I contacted PALS who had no idea and then managed to get through to a nurse at the fertility network who said exactly as Kempton
That my funding is dependent on a live birth. I'm hoping that is the case across the uk as I know funding fluctuates from area to area. I've got an appointment with my gp today to ask for bloods to check my thyroid function, and am now going to bite the bullet and call the clinic. Thank you all so much for your kind words and help. Xxx
Hi, before I started ivf I was put on clomid and conceived but miscarried really early. Then when I had my consultation with the ivf clinic a few months later they pushed my ivf nhs funding back for 3 months.
A friend of mine had her consultation and then fell naturally but sadly miscarried and then after a couple of months went on to processed with the ivf funded by the nhs. However 3 days into her injections she conceived! congratulations on your BFP!
