My ovary has left the building 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi Lovely Ladies,

So we are on our 7th and last cycle, first time I’ve done a long protocol with buseralin. Started in Feb but the cycle got cancelled as the down reg didn't work - i had cysts and thick lining. I started again mid march and went for the the baseline scan today. My lining is at 5mm, so at the limit of what the clinic will go ahead at, and the nurse could not find my left ovary on the scan - never had this before! She said this isnt a bad thing as it if was enlarged/had cysts if couldn’t hide and they are checking oestrogen levels just to be sure. Had anyone ever experienced this? Its proper thrown me for a loop

X

Yes I had this on my second cycle. Couldn't find my left one. She said to me it was due to down regulation and they often can't find the left.

I always think there is less space there as I get a lot of pain in my left one when I ovulate and think it get squashed - this conclusion is based on no scientific evidence what-so-ever I might add!!

Hopefully it's just the down regging and it's not MIA!

Thank u, good to have some reassurance! Yup it’s definitely been a journey! We are very much ready to call it quits if this one ends in a bfn x

Depending on what the oestrogen is saying tomorrow then i can start the stims, if its too high then will wait till next month 🤞

Thank you, right back at you xxx

Yes, it gave me a fright but they explained not to worry and sure enough it was there when I had my next scan. Sometimes they are just shy apparently x

I have never had IVF, yet.. so don’t know about cycles and ovaries hiding, but they could not find my left one when I had an USS as part of investigating why it has not happened to us yet. They told me it was common, bowel etc can get in the way. Found it fine on my HyCoSy scan. All the best for your 7th cycle!

One of my ovaries sometimes hides and also sits high so can be hard to see, they can get lost behind bowel etc so dont worry too much about that....hopefully will show itself at that next scan! I think my lining was around 3mm when I had my baseline scan but I guess that can vary from person to person and they will know more from your bloods. Best of luck for your cycle.xx

Yes all through my ivf cycles, I had an operation when I was 17 and my left ovary seems to have migrated, high up and stuck behind my left kidney. During my first cycle it turned into a giant cyst and on my second cycle it hardly responded to treatment. They said the cyst was basically due to hormones 🙄 but I think it's just a knackered ovary that's probably never worked since my operation x

It looks like it seems to be the left ovary with most of us, I wonder if there is a reason... My left one loves to sit behind my uterus in about 50% of my scans. I was told by a fertility hypnotist that the ovaries actually sometimes both go behind the uterus and one ovary will pass the other ovary an egg if it doesn't feel like releasing the egg itself that month! I am not sure how true that is, but interesting if it is true!

Not what you're looking for?
