Hi has anyone else had bleeding after the egg retrieval process ? It’s been two days since they took my eggs , I have 9 cooking in the lab so I will get a call tomorrow to see if it’s then (day 3) or Saturday (day 5) transfer , this morning 2 days on I had pink blood I called the hospital and they told me I shouldn’t bleed after two days and that if it continues to bleed I will have to freeze them. I will be gutted after all this time that they say this to me , it’s light pink blood I am sure I am taking the cyclogest correctly is there anything I can do to stop it .

It may still be some bleeding from your egg collection but I guess they have to be careful incase your lining is thinning. Have the clinic offered to scan on prior to embryo transfer to check to see if its your lining that is thinning out? I had a thin lining on one of my egg collections and I had to be rescanned to check if my lining was still bad before they would transfer. The main thing to remember is that however devastating it is if you dont get to transfer they are doing the right thing for you. I had my transer cancelled on one occasion and I was so upset but the consultant explained that to put an embryo back would just be wasting a precious embryo and you dont want to do that! Big hugs, it may not come to that but as I said if they havent offered to scan you prior to deciding to freeze that it may be worth asking about.xx

Hello thank you for replying I’m sat here going mad. They haven’t offered to rescan yet they said the embryologist will call me tomorrow to see if I have to come in that day or saturday. On Friday last week on my last scan my lining was 9.6 but they won’t have looked since then I guess ? On Monday they collected 15 eggs they injected 11 and 9 survived. Monday when I got home I was extra bloated for two days and today I am a little better , I managed to open my bowels today for the first time too so they told me to drink plenty of water and eat high fibre foods. I am doing cylogest 3 times a day vaginally would it make a difference if I changed this to rectual ? Or dies this not affect the bleed .? Just feel stressed now we’ve come so far with good results for my age . I am not even sure of the process if they freeze them how long I wait and what the procedure is. It hadn’t entered my head as I didn’t think this was a possibility to bleed or why. Xx

Well your lining sounds like it was good the last time that it was checked. There isnt really anything that you can do if you are taking the meds as prescribed. Sometimes you can get a little cervical irritation from your vaginal pessaries, rectally may be an option, Ive done both but maybe best check with the nurses at your clinic. The thing is if they took 15 eggs you may still just have a little bleeding from this, they've had to go through your vaginal well 15 times with the needle. Drink lots of water and that's good that you've managed to go to the toilet. I guess you just have to wait and see what the clinic say from now but it sounds like you're doing everything right! If they don have to freeze they will stop your meds and let you have a bleed or two to let your body settle back down and you can then go onto prepping for a frozex transfer which is much easier on the body!xx

Thank you for the advice I will see what happens tomorrow and start taking the pessaries 3 times a day rectal instead see if it makes an difference. I have a pain now also in my left ovary :-( I can only sit and wait I supppse trying not to get worried . I do agree though they will do what’s best it’s just deflating . Is the frozen option shorter protocol ? X

It really depends, clinics all have different ideas on what a frozen transfer is but there is obviously no egg collection so that is always a bonus. Your ovaries will play up for a bit yet until they go back to their usual size and heal so try to take things easy!xx
