Stomach pain after egg retrieval

Hi, I was just looking for a little advice in regards to side effects after egg retrieval.

I had my retrieval on wednesday morning & all went well. I’ve had stomach cramps since but feel like it’s got abit worse as today’s went on. I don’t really have any other side effects of OHSS so don’t know if I’ve just moved abit 2 much 2day.

Don’t really want to phone the emergency number if it’s normal to still be sore.

Would be grateful if anyone could let me know if they suffered the same

Hi hun. I was so uncomfortable for a couple of days after my egg retrieval, felt like a balloon ready to pop and had quite a few stabbing pains but I didn't have OHSS or anything (god knows how uncomfortable that must be!). I just tried using a hot water bottle and resting.

I'd perhaps try contacting your clinic if it keeps getting worse though just to be on the safe side. I hope you start feeling better soon my lovely 😊💕 xX

Hi Clover5, many thanks for replying. Ended up coming for a scan this morning just 2 check things out & all ok. Left ovary is pretty swollen but they don’t seem 2 concerned so that’s gd. Gives me comfort so glad I phoned them 💗xx

Hey! I was sore for 3/4 days after my egg retrieval both times. I also developed OHSS but it was more bloating and uncomfortable instead of cramps and soreness.

Try and rest and don’t do to much! Your bodies been through a lot just with the stims, let alone the egg retrieval to!

If it gets really bad and your unsure then ring the number, that’s what it’s there for and it might give you peace of mind.

Hi Dollhousex, thanks for responding. Yeah, don’t think I realised just how much prodding goes on. Spoke 2 my clinic & just had a scan & things r abit swollen but nothing out of the ordinary. Glad I came 4 my piece of my mind though. Jammies day on the couch now! 💗xxxx

They got 22 eggs & 8 have fertilised properly by day 3. They said they were expecting me 2 feel abit rough after a couple of days bcos of the amount they got so my symptoms make sense I guess xxxx

Wow that’s brilliant! So pleased for you. We had egg retrieval 3 weeks ago and got 28 eggs, managed to get 4 Frosties in the freezer 🤞🏼 prepping for FET in March xxx

The second time I had an egg retrieval I had some sharp pains for a few days after. I put that down to my ovaries having been poked several times and also one of them had to be pushed down from the outside as it was in the wrong place. I only had 7 eggs retrieved so no chance of OHSS for me but did you have loads?

Hi Skitten, thanks 4 replying. I got 22 eggs collected so they were expecting me 2 start feeling rough after a few days. Had a scan & abit swollen but nothing 2 concerning so that’s gd xxxx
