Recovery after egg retrieval

Afternoon all. Just home from my egg collection which seems to have been successful ❤️. (15 collected 😚). I am really in pain- hurts to walk, stand up, sit down etc... I had planned to go to Yorkshire and view some houses tomorrow (partner would be driving). We live in London so it’s 4 hours each way. Based on how I am feeling now that just doesn’t seem possible. The hour in the car home was difficult. My question is this- in your experience do you wake up feeling better the next day or might it take a few days to recover? Would I be best to delay my trip? X

Ello lovely - congratulations on 15 eggs!! Woop! You probably have a bit of OHSS - when I've had this previously it's been a good 3 - 4 days before I've felt comfortable again. xx

Aw thanks my love. Yes I think I may have underestimated the impact! Perhaps a day of best rest might be better tomorrow! Hope all is going well with you. Xxx

Weirdly my last 2 cycles I had awful OHSS - to the point where 5 days later I was still in pain. But the latest one I didn't have any pain at all...

We just had our last egg collection last Monday and got 14 eggs - 4 little frosties now await testing xxx

So strange that it’s different each time- I wonder if it had to do with which meds 🤔. Ah wow! That is an excellent result. Congrats. Every every everything crossed for you. Xx

I think it's the trigger. I've had different triggers and different doses each time. This time I had the lowest dosage I've ever had and then I spilled 30% of it when administering so I got even less!! xx

Hey TheFoxes, 15 eggs is a great number- Research reveals it is the optimum number for IVF 🙂

With regards to recovery, I think it differs from person to person. It also differs from one cycle to the next. I have had 3 different egg retrievals and I generally felt better the next day.

My last one, I had bad constipation/ trapped wind for about 5 days. The one before that, my ovaries still felt sore for a few days. My symptoms were generally quite mild and I was still able to carry on with daily activities. However that is my experience.

Wishing you all the best with your house move- we are doing this over the next few weeks as well!

Are you doing a fresh or frozen transfer? Xxx

Congratulations on your collection! Fingers crossed for the testing! I felt pretty grim after my first one, took me about a week until I felt properly normal again. Drink plenty of water and take it easy and be kind to yourself. If it takes too much energy and it doesn't matter moving it a few days I would probably move it just so you can enjoy the experience without feeling under the weather. On the other hand you might wake up feeling fine! I think we have to remember our bodies have been through a lot in the last month - month and a half so they need a little break :) Hope that helps x

Delay the trip, you need to avoid excessive bleeding in your ovaries! Lay low for 5-7 days, it’s the conservative thing to do

It always took me 3 to 4 days to feel better (I.e less bloated +++). I would definitely take it easy.
