First IVF in May-anyone else?

ā€¢8 Replies

Hi lovely ladies. So after lots of deliberation my husband and I have decided to move to IVF for (unexplained) secondary infertility. I am 37 (for two more days šŸ˜) and have AMH of 7.7 with a potential blocked tube. Thatā€™s all theyā€™ve found. Our first round is in May. I have no idea what to expect!!! So many documents form the clinic itā€™s overwhelming!

Would be great to find someone else having IVF at the same time (first time or otherwise). The clinic are being fantastic, and I have been calling with all sorts of questions (am I ok on the supplements Iā€™m taking, how does the doctor know which meds to put me on (gonar, menipur..etc!)

Our EC will likely be towards the 3rd week of May. If anyone has any tips, please do send them my way!! Diet, supplements, rest, exercise... anything ! We eat pretty well, cutting out caffeine and alcohol, etc, but for these two months I want to really go for it !

Iā€™m nervous with that excited feeling that Iā€™m sort of ā€œhanding over to the experts.ā€

Sending love and heaps of baby dust to everyone Xx

Hi Hannah, I have also just started by journey at the moment on the 3rd of the Nasal spray. I'm just trying to just eat healthy and exercise. Still taking folic acid. Hope all goes well for you. Good luck x

Thank you KriSho! Good luck for you!! I start meds late April(norethisterone) and then stimms mid April. No nasal spray I donā€™t think, whatā€™s that one for? Iā€™m still learning it all!! X

Hi Hannah, thanks dear. Nasal spray is the for down regulating my cycle and they will give me injections to stimulate. I'm at very start of the treatment. I know vitamin D is also good. I do take that regularly as well. Fingers crossed that all will go well and being positive šŸ˜Š

Hi Hannah, itā€™s exciting finally being on the move isnā€™t it!! Something to look forward to despite it being a bit scary. I was relieved to finally start IVF as weā€™d been putting it off for far too long. Iā€™m one round in and it wasnā€™t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. We can do amazing things when needed like inject needles into our bellies šŸ˜†

All things going well Iā€™ll be going for round 2 in May with similar timings to you. In fact thereā€™s a few similarities, Iā€™m 38 and a secondary infertility sufferer. But we didnā€™t conceive quickly first time so I suspect thereā€™s always been issues there we just didnā€™t know about.

My clinic advised me to take coq10, vitamin d and folic acid. Recently they told me to reduce caffeine (currently 1 coffee and 2 teas a day, now switching to decaf). I have already dropped the alcohol down to minimal levels. Rest during the treatment is not an option with a full time job and a 3.5y/o though. This time Iā€™m considering acupuncture too, not usually my gig but Iā€™ll give anything a go at this stage!!

Good luck to all of us xx

Hi Shiraz, Iā€™m almost exactly the same as you - I turn 38 on Friday and my daughter is 3 and 5 months! I am taking all of those (ubiquinol rather than coq10 as itā€™s the concentrated version or something!) DHEA as my AMH is 7.7 , a good pregnancy vit. Iā€™m stopping caffeine now too - I wasnā€™t a big drinker but like a coffee at the weekend and try to have just one tea a day. Occasionally slip to one more. No booze at all now but I had slipped back into a couple over the weekend but been mostly booze free since Xmas.

Iā€™m starting up acupuncture again I did around 5 months when trying naturally and itā€™s been recommended for people who have used my clinic, and the same acupuncturist so going to keep going on that! Iā€™ve managed to try and take some time off work which is good and little one will have some time at preschool but reducing her hours.

Youā€™re right I feel so much better now we are going for it. Itā€™s just time for the experts to help! Itā€™s been up and down and feeling helpless is the worst when thereā€™s apparently nothing ā€œwrongā€. My daughter was conceived fairly quickly so assumed it would happen quick again... like all my friends with their second šŸ˜ž

Good luck to you!! Would love to keep in touch with the journey. I also feel that I can do ANYTHING to make this work. Finding that inner strength. Itā€™s a process, and not in my hands. As long I follow instructions thereā€™s not much more I can do apart from the prep for my body! Xx
