Hi lovely ladies. So after lots of deliberation my husband and I have decided to move to IVF for (unexplained) secondary infertility. I am 37 (for two more days š) and have AMH of 7.7 with a potential blocked tube. Thatās all theyāve found. Our first round is in May. I have no idea what to expect!!! So many documents form the clinic itās overwhelming!
Would be great to find someone else having IVF at the same time (first time or otherwise). The clinic are being fantastic, and I have been calling with all sorts of questions (am I ok on the supplements Iām taking, how does the doctor know which meds to put me on (gonar, menipur..etc!)
Our EC will likely be towards the 3rd week of May. If anyone has any tips, please do send them my way!! Diet, supplements, rest, exercise... anything ! We eat pretty well, cutting out caffeine and alcohol, etc, but for these two months I want to really go for it !
Iām nervous with that excited feeling that Iām sort of āhanding over to the experts.ā
Sending love and heaps of baby dust to everyone Xx
Hi Hannah, I have also just started by journey at the moment on the 3rd of the Nasal spray. I'm just trying to just eat healthy and exercise. Still taking folic acid. Hope all goes well for you. Good luck x
Thank you KriSho! Good luck for you!! I start meds late April(norethisterone) and then stimms mid April. No nasal spray I donāt think, whatās that one for? Iām still learning it all!! X
Hi Hannah, thanks dear. Nasal spray is the for down regulating my cycle and they will give me injections to stimulate. I'm at very start of the treatment. I know vitamin D is also good. I do take that regularly as well. Fingers crossed that all will go well and being positive š
Hi Hannah, itās exciting finally being on the move isnāt it!! Something to look forward to despite it being a bit scary. I was relieved to finally start IVF as weād been putting it off for far too long. Iām one round in and it wasnāt nearly as bad as I thought it would be. We can do amazing things when needed like inject needles into our bellies š
All things going well Iāll be going for round 2 in May with similar timings to you. In fact thereās a few similarities, Iām 38 and a secondary infertility sufferer. But we didnāt conceive quickly first time so I suspect thereās always been issues there we just didnāt know about.
My clinic advised me to take coq10, vitamin d and folic acid. Recently they told me to reduce caffeine (currently 1 coffee and 2 teas a day, now switching to decaf). I have already dropped the alcohol down to minimal levels. Rest during the treatment is not an option with a full time job and a 3.5y/o though. This time Iām considering acupuncture too, not usually my gig but Iāll give anything a go at this stage!!
Hi Shiraz, Iām almost exactly the same as you - I turn 38 on Friday and my daughter is 3 and 5 months! I am taking all of those (ubiquinol rather than coq10 as itās the concentrated version or something!) DHEA as my AMH is 7.7 , a good pregnancy vit. Iām stopping caffeine now too - I wasnāt a big drinker but like a coffee at the weekend and try to have just one tea a day. Occasionally slip to one more. No booze at all now but I had slipped back into a couple over the weekend but been mostly booze free since Xmas.
Iām starting up acupuncture again I did around 5 months when trying naturally and itās been recommended for people who have used my clinic, and the same acupuncturist so going to keep going on that! Iāve managed to try and take some time off work which is good and little one will have some time at preschool but reducing her hours.
Youāre right I feel so much better now we are going for it. Itās just time for the experts to help! Itās been up and down and feeling helpless is the worst when thereās apparently nothing āwrongā. My daughter was conceived fairly quickly so assumed it would happen quick again... like all my friends with their second š
Good luck to you!! Would love to keep in touch with the journey. I also feel that I can do ANYTHING to make this work. Finding that inner strength. Itās a process, and not in my hands. As long I follow instructions thereās not much more I can do apart from the prep for my body! Xx
Oh it would be lovely to have someone to chat to throughout. Have you had IVF before? I hope you are feeling better, I saw you had a virus and were poorly xxx
