I’m embarking on my 7th egg collection (woohoo!), my first time doing “mild” IVF. My doc always prescribes Provera for 2 weeks before stims, and I find that every cycle I feel worse and worse with it. My heart races, I can’t sleep well, and my moods are absolutely insane (up and down, round and round). Apparently the other option, Norethisterone, may bring worse symptoms than Provera so my clinic doesn’t use it unless you request it.
Just wondering - has anyone else felt this way on Provera too?

Yes! It is dreadful, but I agree that Norethisterone is even worse. I usually use that and we call it the rage pills in my house 😬😅 Both give me full on mood swings that I just have no control over. Hope it passes quickly and wishing you lots of luck for your cycle xx
Rage pills is exactly it. Every time I take the pill I can feel the storm start a-brewing, the clouds getting darker. I managed to convince my consultant to halve the dose, so just once a day. Now I have fewer outbursts but still a racing heart and shortness of breath?! It’s making me look forward to the ease of injections. Sigh.
Thank you for your support, and kudos to you! Your story is inspiring, makes me feel less crazy for doing this for (what feels like) the millionth time.
Interesting. I’m also at CRGH, but was advised against switching from Provera. The option is there, but they said the dark moods would be worse. Good times! I’m also exhausted, but I think that’s because it makes my heart race which then messes up my sleep. I’ve been seeing an acupuncturist, which has been incredibly helpful. I’m not expecting any miracles from her but she really helps me relax and keep my blood flowing.
Isn't it strange to have all these different recommendations from the same clinic? I just did what they said, but no idea why they changed me or what the difference is...
perhaps? But I presume we have different consultants who are tailoring our plans differently.. at least, I hope so! They don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach. I’ve changed consultants at the same clinic twice already, it was important to me to be with the right one.
I also found Provera awful! Migraines and nausea when stopping was the worst… I’m also at CRGH. Doctors prescribe different things to different patients- I found my treatment to be very tailored.
