Clexane question

Hello ladies,

I recently got my BFP whilst being admitted to hospital for late onset OHSS (not much fun!!) and have to inject clexane for another reason as well as the OHSS now. I always seem to waste a bit, either at the beginning or at the end when I am pushing the safety cap down, today a long squirt cake out and I’m worried this might have a negative effect as I’m not getting the full dose. Does this happen with anyone else by chance?

Thanks xx

Hi Jenjen,

I used to notice the same before.

I am assuming that you are only applying the safety cap after you remove the needle out of your skin?

Try pressing down the safety cap whilst the needle is still inside and then remove the needle slowly as the safety cap “unfolds”

I used to be scared before because I thought the safety cap would come to quickly and hurt my, but it’s not the case.

Good luck

Hi Cat..

Thank you, I haven’t tried clicking the safety cap whilst it’s still in my skin, been too scared!! 😂 I’ll try that tomorrow!

Hope you well? Xx

So far so good 😊

Hope you are feeling a little better.

I was scared too! I thought the cap was going to jump like 100miles/ hour against my tummy 😂

It doesn’t, because you are pressing the syringe against your skin at the same time that you release the cap.

It won’t hurt, I promise ☺️

I’ve had two types of clexane; one says to push out the sheath whilst the needle is inside you, the other once you’ve taken it out. The former option is much better! Also use an ice pack before and after to minimise the stinging. Xx

Thank you! I’m going to try that tonight.. I’m not feeling too much stinging from them at the minute and thankfully only very minimal bruising xx
