Going for egg collection tomorrow morning and have been told that I will be on meds from Thursday for a week to prevent OHSS. Think my blood results were higher than anticipated on Monday so this is perhaps a preventative measure to stop OHSS from happening. Anyone else had to do this? It’s not that I’m alarmed at having to take the meds (actually relieved that I’m being monitored so closely), it’s more that I didn’t have to do this last round so just looking to hear from those that have been in the same boat...
Thanks lovely ladies

P.S obviously it would be cetrotide, which, from experience, is not my best friend!!

Best of luck hifer ! High estrogen levels are usually good news in terms of number of eggs! I just finished egg collection number 3 and was on cetrotide during each of the 3 cycles, it’s pretty standard and I didn’t get side effects from then. Keeping fingers crossed for you!
Also I never was at risk of OHSS so I can’t speak too much about that - a friend of mine was, and the clinic managed it with a different trigger injection (not gonasi) and that was all.
Thanks for your response. Yes fingers crossed. 😊. Although saw my scan results on Monday and they looked very similar to round one so a bit confused. Anyway hoping for more eggs this time. Found cetrotide very itchy and irritable when I had to use it during stims last time- anyway rather that than OHSS! Are you going straight to transfer this time? X
Hi hifer believe it or not, I’m going for a 4th egg collection in 3 weeks.
Throughout my 3 first collections, my scans all looked somewhat similar, but estrogen levels varied, and at times follicles were more spread out in size than others. I consistently had 14 follicles, 7-8 larger than 17mm at trigger...the first round, my follicles were fairly spread out between 16mm and 26mm, I had rather high estrogen levels, and got 10 eggs (8 mature). Second time, I had 3 follicles at 24-26 and the rest around 16/17mm, estrogen levels were low and I only got 4 eggs (3 mature). 3rd cycle, my clinic started stimulating me at day 2 instead of day 3 “to capture the little follicles before lead follicles develop”. My estrogen levels ended up being lower than at round 1 and higher than at round 2. i was expecting 5 eggs and we got 10 eggs again, this time 9 were mature!! Now let’s see how they grow at day 5. Go figure why such a discrepancy between cycles.
Ahh really interesting thank you. My first round was exactly the same as yours- 10 eggs with 8 mature. Keeping everything crossed for the 9 from this round. I have changed drugs this time round so I’m wondering if that has made a difference. We’ll see tomorrow x
My consultant went for the Flare protocol so I was on Gonal F, Buserelin and dexamethasone. More designed to ‘support’ the bodies natural hormones. Who knows though. I might be in this exact same boat if I’d followed the same protocol as last time and we’ll never know!
Interesting. I remained on the short protocole throughout but did add Dexamethazone for the first time at round 3. I heard good things about adding these low dose steroids from many people. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!!
Thank you. Yes I’ve been on the short protocol on both rounds too. What seems to work seems to be a bit of a lucky dip as well as being very dependent on the individual!!
I had similar thing after egg collection I was put onto a freeze all and given a weeks worth of tablets to reduce the OHSS, look after yourself and drink plenty of water and try and eat protein. Like you said it’s good your being monitored! Best of luck with it xx
Yes I was put on cetrotide too after my egg collection because they were worried about ohss. Like you say, it’s good they’re monitoring you and being proactive.
Good luck lovely, hope you get a wonderful haul! Xx
Yeah I'm doing ok thanks! We have a plan ahead so just waiting for the consultant letting me know I'd we have to wait the usual 3months after a pregnancy....kind of want to get back on the horse but will do what I'm told!!xx
