Bleeding at 5 1/2 weeks.... really scared!

Hi lovely people. Last week we got our first ever BFP following a FET. We had a few days of tentative happiness and excitement then during the night on Saturday (5 weeks 3 days) I had a bleed which has properly scared me. Found a fair few red blood stains in my PJs and fresh bright red blood on toilet paper and panicked. I’m terrified that it’s all going to end so soon. Since then the bleeding has become very light brown spotting, can’t see much at all today but still mega nervous. Rested yesterday and again today and clinic will scan me on Thursday when I will be 6 weeks, but the wait is excruciating! Anyone experienced this with good outcomes? Thanks x

Hiya, easy said but try not to worry. I had a bleed at 6 weeks and was determined it was all over. It was a gush of red then I had brown blood for a few weeks after. At my 7 week scan everything was fine (I switched to using the pessaries back door incase they had been a cause) but like I said had brown blood for a few weeks after. I am currently 35 weeks and have had no further bleeding. Crossing my fingers you get good news on Thursday 😊 xx

Hi, I had spotting and a bleed (used a couple of pads) at 5-6 weeks and was so scared but everything was fine. I also rested as much as possible after it happened. The fact it has gone back to spotting and wasn’t full on flow sounds promising. Have you called your clinic? Mine were very reassuring and said just to monitor it. Good luck, I know it’s so scary but hang in there xx

Thanks so much for your quick reply. Yeah, spoke to clinic yesterday. They were reassuring that it may well all be fine but not much more they can do til 6 weeks. Still getting strong positive test and was already on a double dose of pessaries so just need to wait it out til thursday.....

There is a second implantation bleed at 5.5 weeks to 6 weeks when the placenta imbeds into the uterine wall. I had this with all three pregnancies. The blood can be quite red and scary but only for a day or so then the light brown spotting can last a few days. If you start red blood again, definitely see a GP. It’s pretty normal though! Hi lovely, yes I did at about 5 weeks. Fresh bleeding - really frightened me. Started as light spotting and then became slightly heavier and fresh. Also had mild cramping. This was over the course of a week. Was seen in EPU for early scan and all fine. Continued to bleed off and on throughout pregnancy right until third trimester. My beautiful bundle of joy arrived healthy and right on due date. I do hope everything is okay for you and I have everything crossed for you. I know it's so hard not to worry but hang in there and take care xxx

Hi I had a massive bleed at 5weeks 4 days so much so that 111 told me to go to a&e. I had my 6 week scan on Saturday and there was our little one heart beating strongly. I was certain it was all over so was so so shocked. Don’t give up ❤️ x

Hi I had the same around 5 weeks, it was such a worry, clinic got me in for bloods then a scan the next day and everything was ok, the bleeding was unexplained and had no further bleeding, I now have a 7 week old baby. Hope everything is ok for you xx

Ah, that’s my dream! Fingers crossed. It’s a long wait til thursday. My clinic don’t seem to test bloods at all- seems unusual compared to others. Hope they know what they’re doing! Xx

Bleeding and spotting seems to have stopped altogether now (touch wood). Clinic have put me on Lubion injections (progesterone) once a day as well as my 4 cyclogest per day so must have SO much progesterone in me now! Trying to stay positive for now. Thanks so much to all of you lovely ladies for your words of encouragment. It has made me feel so much better and that we’re still in with a chance. Xx

Hi, I had 3 episodes of spotting at around 5 weeks, had an early scan at 6+1 and saw heartbeat. I'm now 12+3 and got my dating scan monday! Spotting is so common in pregnancy and is often nothing to worry about. They said the timing of mine was likely implantation bleeding as they couldn't see any cause on the scan. Xxx

Thanks so much to all of you for your support and reassurance. We had a scan at the end of this week and saw our little pip with a strong heartbeat! The nurse was not concerned about the bleeding and reassured me that it can just happen. Something tells me that that won’t be the end of my worrying but it was an amazing moment and I’m feeling so much better! Xxx
