Discharge after miscarriage

I had a miscarriage and D&C procedure just over 4 weeks ago, I bled lightly for about 2 weeks but since then I have had clear cervical mucus that has some blood mixed in. It’s not continuious and varies between being old blood, little bits of fresh blood and a sort of light brown colour. It doesn’t smell at all. I visited the doctor a week ago and had a swab which came back normal. Just wondering other people’s experience of strange discharge / CM after miscarriage and how long it lasted for , is this just my body clearing its self out still? I’m paranoid of getting an infection and causing lasting damage.

Hi lizzle. This is just probably a reaction to having the miscarriage, D & C. It can take up to 3 months for everything to settle back down to what is normal for you. The bits of brown etc are just down to a little old blood coming away. Your cervix will produce extra mucus to hopefully prevent any infection getting into your womb, so it's doing it's job. Hope all soon settles down. Diane

Hi, sorry to hear you had a miscarriage, it’s heartbreaking I know 💔 I had a d&c at 12 weeks 5 days - it took about 8 weeks for everything to settle down so echo what Diane says. Hope you’re doing as well as you can X

Sorry you went through that. I’ve also had a miscarriage.

When I ovulated (as I tested once bleeding had stopped) I had blood in my cm on the day my ov test was positive.

I didn’t have a d&c though - so I guess things could differ.

I had it very similar after my d/c. It’s probably common.

Also on my first to period I spotted in between period, which never ever happened before.

I think our bodies can change a little after miscarriages
