First time posting, so I got unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis in September last year with an added bonus of endometrial hyperplasia after a hysteroscopy, I just turned 24 last month, I got referred to a fertility specialist almost instantly due to my age and the fact I hadn't been using contraception for over a year as well as the hyperplasia, I have a hycosy booked in on the 19th to see if my tubes are blocked, doctor mentioned clomid as an option if they're patent! Any horrible side effects I should know about first?
Clomid? What's peoples opinion of it? - Fertility Network UK
Clomid? What's peoples opinion of it?
I was tired and moody! I also found it thinned my lining so by day 14 it was only 3mm so I couldn’t continue. Make sure if that’s what they prescribe you that you get scanned first cycle x
Oh god, my fiance won't be happy to hear that!😂 I'll make sure they monitor me, I haven't been ovulating at all according to the tests I've been taking, have they followed you up with another plan?x
They moved me to letrozole when I ovulated and didn’t affect my lining but I never got pregnant. I’m now in IVF world! X
I would definitely make sure that they are going to monitor you properly with monthly scans and blood tests to check it’s doing what it’s meant to.
It can flare endo up, so you should only be given it for a certain amount of time, no longer than 6 months.
Nearing the time of ovulation, I felt very full inside and sometimes each step of walking felt like it vibrated through my ovaries etc!
We’d try anything, so give it a go and see how you feel with it.
Didn’t realise at the time, as thought it was just a painful period, but with the sixth cycle, had an early miscarriage..
Good luck 🙂
So sorry to hear that, I can't imagine the heartbreak! I will definitely make sure I mention it to the specialist about the monitoring side of things, in the leaflet I've been given there's not much information about clomid and endo, so was unsure as they don't really seem to be concerned with eblation or anything! Thank you for the advice, I hope you get your happy ending!💕
So sorry to hear of all your endo issues. Just to say i hope the endo side of things is being dealt with a bgse specialist and not a general gynae. With that stage 4 endo the only people poking around in there should be properly trained.
We had to go straight to ivf due to my age. Have they done an amh test on you At the fertility clinic?
All my hormone levels on the fertility side are perfectly normal, it's now just the concern of the tubes being blocked, my endo is being managed, but I'm unsure if she is a specialist or general gynae, I tend to always see the consultant and never someone under her team, she keeps overbooking her clinics to ensure she keeps on top of my condition and any changes, I am sceptical though, this woman almost performed a myomectomy on me after misdiagnosing my MRI!🙄 thank god I am in the profession and chased up my results myself after the report had come through, the doctor did mention IVF almost instantly but because of my age and new diagnosis, I asked if there was anything to try firstly and he mentioned clomid, so here we are today
Amh is a measure of egg reserve so not hormones. It’s usually a standard test so possibly they’ve done it already.
I’d ask or google if she’s bgse trained. Under rcog guidelines only bgse trained surgeons should be touching stage 3 or 4 endo. These guidelines are often ignored by drs which is scary
Ahhh thanks for letting me know, I'll have a little nose now, although I haven't actually had any treatment for mt endo or surgery, I've only had hysteroscopies done, I'm still learning about the fertility side of things as I didn't expect to need it given my families history and what not, I'll ask about my AMH on the 19th, thank you x
I had hot flushes for a few days after taking it & sore breasts. Apart from that it was fine.
I also have endometriosis unsure of my stage but had 3 surgeries within 13 months & last by an endo specialist.
I fell the first cycle of using clomid after my last surgery & am now 28 weeks pregnant.
The thing with endo is it can feed on hormonal changes just to be aware.
Good luck with everything ❤️xoxo
Ahhh congratulations!💕 I'm under a gynaecologist as well as fertility specialist, I have to get biopsies of my womb taken every 6 months just to check the hyperplasia hasn't worsened, I tend to have an appointment monthly for both specialties, they've asked me to go on the mini pill for 3 months to see if it thins the lining of the womb as it had already thickened at my second hysteroscopy, I'm weary of going on it as i managed to get to stage 4 whilst being on microgynon for years, I haven't been offered any type of surgery for the endo, just regular biopsies, looking at ultrasounds my ovaries look fine and the fertility specialist is just concerned it could be my tubes now, so I'm currently in limbo on what fertility treatment I'm actually going to have! So happy you've had a positive experience with it though, good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!💙💖
Thank you. It was a difficult 7 year struggle but we got there & so can you ❤️
I think mine was treated because of the symptoms & the fact it grew on rectum, pouch of Douglas & uteroscaral ligaments affecting my fertility; it made implantation impossible🙄till it was treated. I was lucky it didn’t affect my tubes & ovaries as well. It didn’t really improve my symptoms but did make it possible to conceive.
I’m glad they are keeping a close eye on you.
I found the anti inflammatory diet helped ease my endometriosis & gave me “time” to fall.
It must be very frustrating to be in such limbo. When are they looking at your tubes? I hope you don’t have long to wait.
It can be quite a struggle managing endometriosis when TTC.
Keeping everything crossed for you & hope you can make progress soon ❤️xoxo
I've got 3 appointments on the 19th, hycosy, gynae and fertility!🙈 so not much longer to wait, 7 years is such a long time! I have an endometriotic nodule between my bowel and womb, I haven't looked in to diet or anything, I probably haven't been eating properly at all, my hairs been falling out due to stress, I've been extremely overwhelmed with my diagnosis and everything going on, I've just finished my uni degree to become a nurse but with my health issues I've really struggled and now the idea of possibly needing IVF just as I'm starting my nursing career is a lot to take in, you've definitely helped me feel a bit at ease though, so thank you very much! So happy you got the ending you wanted!🥰 x
