Hi all,I've not posted on here since my MMC last year, but I'm always lurking in the background.
I had my 3rd egg collection on Tuesday - 2 eggs, 0 fertilized. We're absolutely heartbroken and really don't know what to do next (this may be a second post!)
My physical symptoms appear to be getting worse. Since the EC, I've had cramping and pain in ovaries, nausea, violent stomach cramps resulting in diarrhea and now I've got lower back pain. I'm still off work and can't imagine going back feeling like this. Is this normal?
I'm taking Paracetamol but it's not really touching the pain. I've been for some short walks, but having to come home due to pain getting worse or needing the loo. I feel like I can't deal with the emotional impact while still feeling ill.
To make it worse, I had trauma to my vein from the cannula and have only just been able to use my left hand again!
Just totally fed up and looking for some advice. Thanks x

Hey. I’m so sorry to read how awful you’ve been feeling. It sounds like you have symptoms of OHSS. Have you spoken to your clinic about your symptoms?
I would suggest giving them a ring and see if there is anything they can offer. I had pretty much exactly the same symptoms for a few days after my transfer and it was dreadful. Take care of yourself xx
Thank you for your reply.I've read the symptoms of OHSS, but assumed that only happens when you produce lots of follicles. I will call the clinic today and see what they say x
I'm so sorry you're going through this! I agree with Waitingonarainbow that this definitely sounds like the hallmarks of OHSS. I hope the clinic can offer some guidance.
My heart goes out to you as this must feel like such a kick in the teeth after the outcome of your egg collection. Have you managed to book in a post-treatment consultation? If so I really hope they can give you some answers and guide you through your options moving forward.
And if you're not happy with the outcome then do consider switching clinics. We switched a few months ago and are feeling way more supported. You're still only in your mid-30s (going by your user name) so you have time and you have options. But for now concentrate on getting well again.
Thank you for your reply. I will phone the clinic today and speak to the nursing team.We haven't booked a follow up, as it costs £150 and we just don't have any more money to spare at the moment! We did speak to the Embryologist regarding the fertilization issues, she said my eggs were 'ok' quality but sperm was abnormal shape.
We're going to take another break to think about our options. At the moment, I feel like giving up x
Hi Ruth. The others have probably already said this, but you need to drink 3L water a day and keep an eye on urine output. Keep up with paracetamol, but no anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Avoid , and get seen by doctor if it continues. Good luck. Diane
I’m so sorry to hear your news. And I’m sorry you’re going through it with symptoms. If you have nausea and it’s getting worse, or the pain is getting worse definitely give your GP or even 111 a ring. Take so much care of yourself. Sending love x
Thanks PinkCat. The nausea has eased a little today and I've managed to a bit more than I have been. I will see how I am over the weekend and up my water intake x
