Diet tips

Hello! I am new to IVF ans started to read about many things that I don't know what it is and many many abbreviations that I have no idea what it means". I hope I won't have time to learn them all!

But I will have my baseline scan next Monday and was wondering if there is anything that I could add to my diet to help with the lining and the follicle growth. Me and my husband try to follow a healthy diet but still we haven't managed to get pregnant naturally.

I am getting anxious about the injections and wondering if everything will work as it should.

Can't wait to hear all the tips of natural things that I can be doing to help with the process!

Thanks

Good luck with your cycle. I have just had a failed cycle but mainly due to lining. I greatly improved my egg numbers and quality by taking dhea ( 3 month prior although this was for my low amh) for general quality I took royal jelly omega 3 and co-enzyme. I ensured I had lots of fruit and veg and cut out alcohol (a glass here and there) and caffeine. I am going to try again and been recommended to use vitamin e and l’argine supplements to improve lining. If your cycle is starting next week it may be abit late for these but when injecting make sure you have lots of water and protein.. this really made a difference. Hope this helps and hope it all goes well x

Thank you for all the tips! Some of the things you've mentioned I am already doing, will do the rest! I didn't know about the protein, will make sure I take it plenty!

I hope that I won't need abother round, but if I do I will look into the l'argine.

How long will you have to wait to try again?

Good luck with your new cycle! New good things happen all the time ;)

I have an excellent embryo frozen so unsure how long I have to wait. Determined to get myself in best possible health for it though. Xxx hopefully you will only need 1 cycle and all will go well xx

Hi alexbaines. I also have a low amh (similar to yours and have been taking Dhea for 3 months. Currently about to start short protocol stims and would love some hope for egg numbers and quality. You say dhea helped you? Would you mind telling me about how your cycle went? How many eggs/follicles/what happened etc? Thanks 😊

Of course. I managed to have 10 eggs collected and 8 were mature, 5 fertilised. Unfortunately we lost 2 at day 3 but had 2 grade 2 good quality embryos transferred and have 1 grade 1 excellent embryo frozen, which was amazing considering they didn’t think I would respond. From finding out my amh 3 months ago I did all the above. While on stims (short protocol) I ensured I had lots of protein ( I bought a protein shake that I had once a day, careful with added sugar though.. I bought the ‘whey to go’ on line) and baby aspirin. I had 3 scans before my treatment looking at follicle count and it went from 1, 5 and then 11. The only things I changed was to take dhea and baby aspirin. Unfortunately my fresh cycle failed but I think this was a lining issue as we had trouble getting it thick enough. I am lucky to have a good frozen embryo left but going to ask about doing another fresh before my amh takes another nose dive. I think the main concern is my age rather than amh, I have heard younger ladies with low amh be really successful as the quality is better x hope this helps

Hi. Thanks so much for that. That was a really good response. Sorry to hear the fresh round didn't work but great you still have another go from it.

I really hope i can respond as well. Keep feeling convinced and terrified this round won't work and i'll have none left over from it and really don't know how i'll cope. Been stressing like crazy and my fav go to coping mechanisms are cigarettes and wine. Ashamed to say i havent abstained as i should despite spending 6 grand on this. I know I'll blame myself for not doing everything im supposed to even though it may not have worked anyway. Does baby aspirin help with eggs? Missed that one...ah well bit late now given i start stim injections saturday. Thanks so much for your reply and best of luck with another fresh cycle.xx

Baby aspirin thins blood and is said to improve circulation so I thought I’ve got nothing to lose giving it ago and started it just before stims until egg collection. I would check first though as wouldn’t want to advise anything against your clinics advice. X don’t beat yourself up about not being strict with yourself, we are only human. Xx keep me updated in how you are getting on and wishing you all the best.
