FET Diet

Just wondering what everyone’s diet tips are when awaiting FET? I’m due to do a Natural FET in a few weeks and although I do eat relatively heathy in general I don’t know weather to go the extra mile with the IVF diet 🙃 I ate everything I was supposed to before my first transfer which then failed ☹️ so I don’t know if it’s worth it or not??

Hi there, theres definitely no harm in trying it ☺I have done a bit of research and I'm currently doing the Mediterranean diet. So cutting out sugar and cutting out carbs, carbs you do eat have slow release whole grains. Cut out potatoes too, have 2 portions of oily fish a week lots of veg. Only 2 portions of fruit a day as they have lots of sugar.

Sugar causes spikes in insulin levels and can affect egg quality.

Nuts and beans and olive oil..I cant think of much else. I've found it quite easy and good for the mind knowing I'm trying what i can. Good luck with whatever you decide xx

Thank-you that’s really helpful 👍 like you say nothing wrong with trying 😊 good luck to you too xx

In my sane moments I believe that there is little you can do to control the outcome of an FET. It’s all in the embryo and the timing of transfer and the skills of the people doing it.

If it makes you feel better to have a sensible few weeks doing the ‘right things’ I’d do it. But equally, don’t beat yourself up if you don’t.

I have always had a glass of wine a couple of days before my FET in the hope it would be the last one for 9 months. And after 3 transfers I’ve had by son and two miscarriages. None of which I believe were impacted in anyway from a glass of wine while they were still in the freezer.

Fingers crossed for you.

I think like Mogwai_2 that there 's little you can do to change the outcome of it. I had a natural FET myself earlier this year where I wasn't changing anything in my diet. Of course I was aware of it, but not going strictly for special diets. I am due a baby girl in 2-3 weeks, so whether it's down to luck or something else I don't know. Me and my partner's infertility is unexplained.

When I did my fresh cycle I was so strict with myself in the run up to it, watching what I ate, cutting out caffeine, alcohol, sugar etc..for my frozen cycle I decided to chill out, had a glass of wine the night before transfer and had a much more relaxed approach to it (probably because I was convinced it would fail tbh) and it worked! I think generally being healthy is always the best approach but try not to focus too much on it..good luck!
