Diet during down regulation

Hi everyone,

This may be a stupid question but is there a good diet to eat while down regulating? I’ve been taking Buserelin injections for 12 days and still haven’t had a bleed. I’m worried that my diet might be contributing. As I have low ovarian reserve Ive been trying to eat things to help any eggs I do have - a avocado each day as I read it is good for egg health and also Brazil nuts, eggs, spinach but I’m worried I’m doing too much at this stage. As we are doing ICSI with micro-tesse I need my side of things to go to plan and stick to schedule as my DH opp is booked for the 1st March. Just having abit of a panic that I’m not doing things right. Any advice would be much appreciated xx

This isnt really a diet to follow. Just make sure that you are healthy, lots of fresh fruit, veg and protein...a balanced diet is best without too much refined sugars etc. Everyone is different as to when they will bleed, no two bodies are the same and some people dont bleed very much or at all and their lining still shrinks down with the meds. Hang on in there, Im sure you'll get there just fine, you've plenty of time!xx

Thank you for your reply. Think I’m just having a bit of a wobble. It’s hard to stay positive when you feel like everything is going wrong. Think I just need to try and calm down. I wouldn’t be as concerned if we didn’t have a strict schedule to stick to with my DH opp xx

I think we all panic when we dont know what to expect or how long things may take, its only natural. Once you start on stimulation injections the process is fairly quick to be honest so like I said, lots of time until the 1st for March for DH's OP.xx

Sounds like you eat really healthily mso you’ve nothing to worry about in terms of your diet. Unfortunately it’s just a bit of a waiting game for the bleed to happen, there’s nothing you can do to speed things up. It sounds like you have enough time though, try not to panic. Easier said than done I know 😘 xx

Hi Dunla, thank you for your reply. I know I’m just having a wobble. I’m sure like most people on here it’s just taken so long to get to this point (3 years) that now we have our chance I want to try to do everything I can. I know I’m being silly just hard to control my anxiety about it all at the moment. I like to be in control and that’s one thing I’ve found out you can’t be in this process!! x

You are not being one bit silly. I completely understand. The anxiety does make it so hard, I relate so much to that and your comment about liking to be in control. That is a struggle for me too. Try to look after yourself emotionally as well as physically. Try to make time to do nice things for yourself that are unrelated to IVF and also for relaxation. Take care and lots of luck with it all xx
