Period consistency - Any such thing as normal?

Hey ladies,

Another month passes by and another thing for me to worry about. This month’s topic - Period Consistency! 💧

I typically bleed for 3 - 5 days. Not particularly painful. Some mild cramping for the first day but thats it. The blood is bright red (which i read is a good thing) but im worried its more watery than it should be. When i wear pads and go to the toilet, the water is red, its not coming out in my wee as when im wearing a tampon there’s nothing in the bowl. When i wipe again, fresh red blood but its consistency is thin like water. Is this right? Is there any such thing as normal? I have pics but dont want to gross you all out 🙈

Hmm, I don’t know if there really is a normal period. Mine constantly varies in its consistency and timing.

I feel your pain 😩 x

Hi

My used to be very thick but since having acupuncture last few months it is heavier(more) and like you it has got very watery. I dont know if this is good or bad but interested in hearing what others have to say. Sorry not much help

Hey hunny I really don’t think there is any such thing as “normal” I couldn’t be more opposite to you. Excuse the tmi but my af is completely clotty, very light but almost black blood with no flow at all and it’s been like that for years so I think we all have our very own AF’s!! X x

I think we do 🙈 again, something im just clinging on to. Ive mentioned it to Drs and no-one seems concerned as long as its regular which it is, and its the same consistency every month.

Can’t help but think if the consistency was a bit juicer so to speak the little embryo might stick better 😕🙈 x

Exactly what mine is like and has been for years too xx

It’s frustrating isn’t it because I’ve always thought that was the problem ie light periods = not enough womb lining to support a natural pregnancy, but the doctors don’t seem to care or be bothered by our AF’s!! How are you feeling hunny, bloody shattered I bet! IVF is like a double whammy, your already knackered off all the meds and then go straight into your first trimester!! 😘

No one ever took my concerns seriously either. My period used to be heavy in my late teens/early 20s. I don’t know what changed or why 🤷🏻‍♀️ Interestingly though I’ve always had really good linings on all 6 transfers, even the natural fets so I don’t know what the underlying cause is.

I’m ok. Yes I’m tired physically and emotionally. You don’t think about how many twws you’re going to have to do after the bfp and that’s hard, I can’t relax and I’m not taking anything for granted. We’ve got our 12 week nhs dating scan next week where I should be 12+5..... 🙏🏻🤞🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻 xx

Sunshine mine like yours med to light hardly any on a pad only when I go to wee and wipe 3/4 days red/pink no clots really.

It is funny how we start worrying about things that are supposed to be normal - I am the same. Also I dont know if "normal" exists, but I suppose as long as your lining is thick before and thin after everything is OK, especially having no cramps is a very good sign. Sorry for TMI but I am using a mens cup since some while which gives you a much better idea of how much blood is really coming. But when I wee and wipe it is also quite watery, I suppose it is just looking like this because in this very moment there is not so much blood.

Thank you for commenting! I may look into a cup for next cycle.

Its almost as if it pools in my vagina and when i relax to go to the toilet it all comes out.

Ive not had many internal scans but my last one the day after ovulation, endometrium was 9.4mm and trilaminer which i think is good.

Why oh why can i not get pregnant - aaahhh!

9.4mm is really good! I really like the cups, it is so much better than tampons, although a bit weird in the beginning.

I just had a look into your story, it is so hard, the question of why. I am asking myself exactly the same: why me? why can I not get pregnant? More than two years now, and I am getting older and older and then people "blame" you for waiting so long and that you should start because you are not getting younger.

I really hope we can get positive updates from you soon :) xx
