Yes it depends on how far in the needles are pushed - they call it a 'strong' or 'weak' feeling. You are welcome to indicate to the acupuncturist if a particular point feels too strong to you - I usually do a bit of a yelp at mine - and then they can adjust it. Sometimes the needle feels intense for a few seconds and then 'goes off'. You are meant to feel something, if it is working, but if you are in discomfort then that isn't quite right and your therapist can modify it. A good acupuncture session does involve some back and forth on these issues!
I had acupuncture on my last cycle and yes I found some of the needles a little painful (nothing like injecting clexane though). I had some along my spine which were sore and those in my wrists were also sore and I even bruised. To my surprise she put one in my scalp, i didn't feel a thing. It's stange how you feel some and not others. My acupuncturist said they can be a little painful and if you feel it go in, you are intune with your body and they are working xx
Yes, it’s normal. I have never feel pain on my tummy but once hit a massive bruise. I found needles on my legs and feet really painful so I can’t say that I enjoyed the acupuncture. Once the needles have settled the pain usually go away but the sessions was not something I looked forward too. I have done it for 6 months though and also through my first IVF cycle. I can’t really say that it helped with anything but it’s worth trying as different people react differently. Best wishes xx
Yes it's normal, I've just come back from a session and the ones in my hands and feet always feel sore when the needle goes in and during I know that they are there the others I can't feel and then after it still feels like they are in 😂
