I’m 28+2 and was diagnosed with GD after Xmas and I’ve not taken then diagnoses very well (off work with anxiety) I’m usually very strong and laid back but this has cracked me.
I am asking if anybody has had this with their pregnancy and what the baby was like (complications? Risks? Weight?) and did you lose the GD after birth?
I want to find people out there who has currently got it or had it so I can talk to you about it.

Perfect... there’s a private group on there called gestational diabetes uk mums.... it’s a fantastic forum and will give you so much advice and much more than the doctors. I’ve got gestational diabetes and was diagnosed at 16 weeks. I thought great. Not only has it taken me years to be pregnant but now I can’t eat what I want to. It’s really not that bad and you don’t have long to go. The focus is to eat high fat and proteins and cut down on your carbs. Take a look at the group and join up and you’ll feel so much better and lots of birth announcements with ladies who have gestational diabetes for not just one but maybe consequent pregnancies too... let me know what you think xxx
Hey hun. I have 4 friends who had gestational diabetes. All of them have healthy babies and diabetes went away after they gave birth. Sending lots of hugss and keep strong and positive, you can do thay and everything will be great! ❤❤❤xxxx
hey! I thought I would drop by because I hate to hear you suffering from such anxiety and tell you it isn’t clear cut in regards to GD. There are lots of birth professionals who disagree with the blanket testing of all mamas because the research isn’t great and a diagnosis can cause unnecessary anxiety. This midwife goes into it a little here gentlebirth.org/archives/gd...
This isn’t too say that changing your diet and focussing on fats and protein isn’t an awesome idea that will make you feel great. It willlll It’s just the system can sometimes be behind the research, and we have gone a little crazy on the medicalisation of birth. I just want women to know that they have all the knowledge within them . ❤️
Best of luck to you. Xxxx
I don’t have any experience personally but a friend of mine had gestational diabetes let year. She ate sensibly for the rest of the pregnancy (she may also have had medication). Baby was fine, she was fine, no diabetes post baby and she is now back on the chocolate!
I got diagnosed with this and I was so upset it just felt like another risk after alreast going through so much and I really wasn't expecting it. However once I started at the diabetes clinic I felt much better. Only difference for me was hospital policy to induce a week early. I have a healthy and gorgeous little boy who was 5lb 13oz and I don't have diabetes now. I know it's scary but it really is ok. Xx
