Hi all you lovely ladies. I hope you are taking care of yourselves on this tough journey. I’ve thought long and hard about whether to post this and really hope that I don’t upset or offend anyone. I know when I was in a dark place with this journey there were times when certain posts would feel like a kick in the stomach and other times they were a beacon on hope. I’m hoping for most of you this will be the latter.
So after a scare in early pregnancy, things settled down and I just loved and cherished every moment of being pregnant after everything we’d been through. At 28 weeks I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes so had to go on metformin and test my sugars 4 times a day. The hospital regularly monitored us and I can’t fault the care we had.
Due to the GD we were induced at 38w5days. After a difficult labour, I stopped progressing and baby’s heart rate was dropping so we had an emergency c-section.
Michael Arthur, known to all as Mikey, was born on 30th August at 2am, weighing 7lbs 11oz.
We had an extended stay in hospital to help balance Mikey’s blood sugars but he progressed well.
I feel so overwhelmed with love for our precious little boy and grateful beyond words that IVF worked for us. Thanks to all of you for your support along the way. This forum really was a lifeline for me.
I wish all of you love and luck wherever you are on your journey and hope that you get the happy ending you all deserve.
