Anxiety
Hi Freyabelle, I see that you have had some positive tests recently, that's really great news, congratulations. I also have anxiety that has been made worse going through IVF. I'm also pregnant and have now been referred for therapy through my midwife. Haven't started it yet. You can also self refer via the NHS beta.nhs.uk/find-a-psycholo... No idea on waiting times etc.
Other self help strategies i've used have included listening to positive affirmations for pregnancy, guided mediation, yoga, exercise, writing down my worries etc.
I would also speak to your GP about your GAD and how it's effecting you during this time. And your midwife will be able to help you further.
A simple breathing exercise when I'm feeling really anxious is to sit up straight, and treat in deeply for 4 counts, and out slowly for 6. Counting and focussing on breathing distracts and directs negative thought patterns.
Really hope you can try to stay calm and talk about your feelings with close ones, they will want to support you too xx
Hi Freyabelle. Perfect advice from "LittleBlue34". Hope it helps. Diane
Hi Freyabelle
Congratulations on your BFP
It must be disconcerting to feel so anxious about it after all we've been through but great advice above from.other users.
The only thing I would add is- are you taking vit D supplements ? I would recommend your doctor check your levels as if they are very low you'll need extra supplementation as it can cause a variety of problems including anxiety/deprrssion
Just as important as vit D is magnesium
It's a mineral many of us are deficient in - and is safe to use in pregnancy
I find a magensium bath works really well to calm anxiety nerves and generally "reset" myself
If you get things like restless legs/muscle nerve cramps/ insomnia/ also it's great for that too. I sometimes use the oil spray version to rub onto skin for immediate relief.
Otherwise I use a daily magnesium citrate tablet in evenings and I knock out to sleep 20 mins after.
It's helped so many of my patients friends and family (even one who managed to recover from a nervous breakdown!) That I couldn't recommend it enough.
Have a little read through the different types of magnesium to suit you. Avoid the glycinate version as it's the only one that can worsen anxiety.
Hope you feel better soon x
