Hi everybody

Today I got a mail from the clinic and it is written that my AMH is 7.5 which is in the lower end of normal!

Just wanted to ask your opinions ,is it really too low? Do u reccomend any supplements before next round ivf which is on February?! Im already on pregnacare and ubiquinol 600!

Thank u so much for replies!

Some women advise taking dhea but I think that’s more for egg quality rather than reserve. Lots of women unfortunately find themselves in the same predicament as you so I hope someone is able to advise you soon xx

Thank u so much for reply! Yes I read some info about dhea but havent tried it yet! Im a little bit scared of hormones coz my body is not a good responder to them! Sometimes visaversa!

But maybe I go for it for afew weeks before my ivf!

Take care and wish u a wonderful pregnancy! xxxx

I think if you’re going to take dhea it needs to be about three months before.. Do a little more research maybe and good luck xx

Ok though it is too late maybe! I read different stories actually ! Some were only on it for a few weeks and some for longer periods! I will talk to my dr tomorrow and will ask him for sure but I dont think he knows anything about it! Seems these supplements are not so popular between them;) last time I showed him ubiquinol and he had no idea about it!

Anyway thank u for the help! xxxx

Ive tried dhea and I was told it take 3 months before it would start to take effect. But I started it 6 weeks prior to my 2nd cycle and my consultant said it was better to start it than not. So I did and even though my 2nd cycle failed, I carried on taking it as I then had my 3rd cycle all within 6 months. I didn't experience any side effects which are reported. And as my 3rd cycle has just ended quite badly, I can't give you a positive story for using it. My 3rd cycle has been my worst and I have been my healthiest and taking the supplements the longest on this cycle. I have had amh readings of 3.0, 2.3, 7.5 and 6.2 so amh can vary (even when blood tests are done by the same lab). The levels are based on your age so if they've said it's low, it means that compare to other woman your age, it's low. When I got the reading of 3.0 i was 33 and was told it was low for my age and that i would find it extremely difficult to conceive but it wouldn't be impossible. I hope your cycle goes well, wishing you lots of luck xx

Thank u so much for your reply! Im so sorry for your bad experiences! As u said the amh could be so tricky and goes up and down some times! I am39 and I dont know if it is normal at my age or not but anyway he said 7.5 is at the lower part of normal!

Maybe I buy dhea and start to try it but still not sure! Should it be 50 mg?! My second cycle was horrible too! No ovarious respond! Only 2 eggs and none fertilised! However the first one I had very good respond with 1embie and2 high grade blast! But didnt implant! I think my body is playing with me too! All the doctors said they dont know why my body changed alot during a short time!

By the way Im travelling to London this month24-27! Are these supplements in pharmacies that I can buy?! They dont have it in Sweden!

Thank you! I hate AMH with a passion lol if only there was a wonder pill for this?! I was on 75mg of dhea a day but started at 25mg and worked my way up to take the full 75mg over a couple of weeks. Also I was told to take 25mg in the morning and 50mg in the evening to spread out the dose so that the body absorbs it throughout the day.

I think the whole process is a mystery and if you manage to get answers and find out the reason why you can't conceive then you're very lucky. It's frustrating when there is more than one issue that has to be addressed.

I had to buy mine from the US as you cannot buy it in the UK in shops, I think some clinics prescribe it, but mine didn't. Here in the UK you're lucky if it gets through customs as it can be confiscated as its not an approved supplement. My consultant really recommended dhea as he and his wife had success when she was taking it and I know other ladies on here recommend it. I was of the view when I started taking it, that anything is worth a try and even the reported side affects were worth it but I think it's a personal choice and you should discuss with your consultant.

Wishing you an enjoyable trip to the UK xx

Yes I wish there was a pill for that and even for all the problems we have! Loll😂

Ok though I go for 75 mg and maybe it is better to buy online as I bought pregnacare and ubiquinol online too!

I have some immune problem as well and he gave me prednisolone5 mg that Im supposed to start at the start of ivf cycle! Then heparin injections if I get a bfp!!

Too much to do!😫

Thank u so much and wish u a merry christmass and a happy new year with good news of a beautiful baby!❤️

The AMH measures egg reserve, but the FSH correlates with quality - the lower the better. What's your value?

Paris1771 profile image
Paris1771 in reply to HopeOfYou

They did not measure my FSH! I hope some supplements can help me to work on both quantity and quality!

Yesterday my nurse advised mine was tiny bit low at 9 for a 32yr old, but was still appropriate to use antagonist protocol. She said whilst it’s a little lower than normal they wouldn’t be looking to use a different protocol or add extra supplements unless it was 4 or less. Apparently they may just tweak your dosage to boost it a bit and she said not to worry. I know 7 is a little lower but higher than 4. Maybe check with your ivf nurse/consultant for their advice. xx

Thanks. I’m sure it will help. Lots of women far older than you have had successes, so the meds must give you a good fighting chance. All the best xx

Hey, I would think that your AMH is much in line with you age....mine was 7.19 when I was 38. Its really only done to give the clinic guidance on how much stims to put you on. Ive seen some ladies have successful pregnancies with much lower AMH. I also tried DHEA after my disasterous 1st cycle which seemed to help my embryo quality 75mg per day (3x25mg) however I still didnt get a BFP. I didnt get many side effects.xx

Paris1771 profile image
Paris1771 in reply to Cinderella5

Hi! Yes maybe it is not too low but anyway it is not the only problem that I have😫. U know man want to throw everything on it and try it then there would be no regrets! So I gonna buy dhea as well for boosting my chance! I do hope from the bottem of my heart for both of us to get a bfp and a beautiful little one in the new year! Take care! Xxxxxx

Yes, that's exactly how I felt too! My NHS clinic were fine about me using it and actually recommend trying it now. Here's hoping 2019 is a better year!!xx

Paris1771 profile image
Paris1771 in reply to Cinderella5

My clinic doesnt reccomend it and they said they have no idea about it! I’ll take it anyway as far as it is not harmful!

Yeahhh ,our fingers crossed for a successful2019!

Just like to point out that you have said lower end of NORMAL. Please remember that and many a woman have got pregnant with lower AMHs.

My AMH was 3.5 at 37 and I’ve been pregnant 7 times - all losses so far. First IVF was on maximum drugs with merinoeal got 2 eggs, both fertilised, 2 blastocysts, 1 transferred and BFP but resulted in a missed miscarriage. The other egg wasn’t suitable for freezing. The second IVF I had been on DHEA for three months 75mg. Although I got more eggs 5, 3 fertilised but only 1 made it to transfer and this was a morula and not a blastocyst and I got a BFN. For me, my doctor thinks it’s an issue with my egg quality although I’m not convinced. I try not to worry to much on the numbers of the different blood tests xx

Thank u for your reply! Sorry that u have been through so many MC es,but I think there will be more chances for u in compare with me coz your uterus is able to get pregnant and hopefully u can reach a healthy pregnancy with trying some other medications maybe!

In my case however the amh is not too low ,I’ve never had any BFP! I had a comprehensive blood test recently and it came out with almost everything normal except for one factor of NK cell(immune problem) which is slightly high! They gonna give me prednisolone but totally it is very complicated that they cant find why it never happens! Im so dissappointed of the situation!

Hope u good luck with your next cycle! xxxxx

Hi paris 4 years ago my amh was 15.7 . That time was my first ivf cycle and they put me on low dose drugs. They collected what I remember 11 eggs then when down to 5 . They put morula and blastocyst...nothing to freeze and we had bfn. My second cycle over 2 years ago we had in different clinic ...everything was different there...felt more positive. I dont know what was my AMH level but they put me on different drugs Gonal f 300 . This time they collected less eggs but top grade so we had one put in and one to freeze. Outcome...I have Beautiful dream come true baby girl 19 months old 🥰 I’m 38 so month ago we went back to the clinic what best our options is ...to use that frozen one or to go through fresh cycle . They done AMH test and base on that doctor recommended to do fresh us my AMH drop to 5.7 . They never told me to take any supplements ...I just cut down coffees drunk lots of water eat healthy. So we have a nurse planning appointment first week of jan . I read many stories that ladies with lower AMH have a positive outcome. So I pray to god that this 3rd time will give us another miracle 🙏 xx

Hi Olivia

What a wonderful story u have! It is really impressing😍And our age is so close ,so I do hope I can get the result for my third ivf try as well! Actually on my first cycle I had very good result,11 eggs I think and 1embie transferred then 2 top blas to freez but after all three transferr nothing happened then second cycle was awful! Just 2eggs and no fertilisation!this time they will start with375mg gonal -f! I have some problem with NK cells as far as I know and amh is not the only problem I have! I can just pray to God to help us and having my fingers crossed to win!

Thank u for sharing your great positive story! It really helps me to be optimistic about my situation too! Sending u baby dust for your 3rd cycle and have a great Xmass and new year ahead! xxxxx

Thank u Paris x Doctor told me all ready that they gonna increase the dose this time . We repeat all test they need and I email them before nurse appointment . I don’t know what outcome gonna be ...how many eggs they gonna collect and how many of them will fertilise ...but if the outcome gonna be like last time I will think to put two this time ... I noticed that this NK cells I very common problem now this days when did u find out u have NK cells issue? What your doctor is recommended u and what they gonna do about it? What I know u will need to take some medication for that and after your transfer (not sure for how long u need to take the meds? . We need to stay positive Hun and believe that will all work for us 🙏 I’m sending u lots of baby dust too and great Xmas and the new year coming has to be the lucky one for both of us xxxxx🙏🙏

Your welcome! I think It’s a good idea that they want to higher the dosage and dont worry about the rest of it! It is great that u have a few frosties for back up as well! Everything gonna be alright just the same as last time😍.

Yes NK cells are getting so commun these days or maybe coz they could recently find out how to measure it! My clinic didnt do it and they dont believe in it but I found a clinic in Denmark and traveled there to have the test done!it was just a month ago! He gave me prednisolone before and after transfer and if I get a bfp I must start heparin injections! Hope it works this time!

Thank u! My fingers crossed for both of us! xxxxx
